Most armors are in 1:35 scale. My new page include a 1:35 armored helicopter, so I think it fits in this forum as well.

So, it's my pleasure to announce that Model Maniac Page 21 - Part D is now available!.
In this Part there are four new models - most of them big ones - as follows :

- Revell's H.M.C.S. Snowberry 1:72 (85.0 cm long)
- Revell's German Submarine VII C 1:72 (93.3 cm long)
- Trumpeter's MiG-3 1:32
- Trumpeter's Mil Mi-24V Hind-E Helicopter (56.5 cm long)

All by 'Jakkraphad' - another pro modeler of Thailand

dude,

just because the chopper has armor plate does not mean it belongs to armor and AFV forum. Besides you already posted this thread in aircraft forum as well.

Hey falconbbs,

The U boat looks great, I've got one too, just needs a paint job! Once it's done I'll probably get a Snowberry for it to sink!

The Hind is one of my favourite choppers, although I only collect 1/72, I'm tempted to get it in 1/35. How good is that trumpeter kit?

By the way, do you know if there's any hobby shops in Leam Chabang, Pattaya.

Cheers!

Hey SS-74...some of us consider Heli's, especially the Mi-24 series, as "flying tanks".

That's just flying armour baby! Respect the rotors!

Many thanks for all your kind comments and compliments!.

SS-74, not only it has armor but it's also in 1:35 scale which is international scale for armor.
And as Jacques put it, this is a flying tank!. I also posted different topic and different pictures
in the aircraft forum. In the aircraft forum I also included the MiG-3.

Nick, the Snowberry is good to have and it's cheap. It costs less than $50 in Thailand, much
cheaper than the U-Boot which costs $68. As for hobby shops in Laem Chabang, Pattaya
I don't think there is any - even in Chonburi province itself. You'd better come to Bangkok.
And if you want the list of hobby shops in Bangkok just let me know.

Jacques, thanks for your assistance.

I like it (and wouldn't have seen it if it hadn't been posted here).

Guys, I am not trying to be a prick here, the thing is this is an Armor/AFV forum, and this should be respected. What if an A-10 is posted here?

I think a moderator can move this thread to approriate forum.

And we all are very impressed the work that falconbb paid his modelers do.

i agree with Dave, though they are both very nice models they belong in the approiate forums.
This just makes it easy for people to find. Say you only visit the A/C forum then you will miss the good model of the hind.
Not trying to be nit picky but just helps in the flow of everything

I second that. Trumpeter Hind is a very nice model and the one Phaisal shows on his website is particularly well done, but it still belongs to the Aircraft forum. The scale really doesn't matter - otherwise next we will see can be M1 Abrams or Kuebelwagen in 1/48 scale posted on Aircraft forum, as this is "international scale for aircraft"...

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks falconbbs,

looks like I'll have to pay bangkok a visit some time. Yup please send me a list of hobby shops there.

I do intend to get the showberry, over here it's about US$60+ here. It sounds like plastic models are cheaper in Thailand than Singapore? Do the shops also carry Verlinden, Legend, etc? Is that any export tax or whatever if I were to fly in & out?

Thanks,
Nick

JamesGA, thanks for your kind comments.

Nick, is your E-mail in your profile a real one?. If so, I'll send you the list by E-mail. Posting here is risky - to be 'off topic'.

No, generally they're cheaper in Singapore. I knew from a Singapore dealer who came to Bangkok a few months ago that prices in Bangkok are rather high. For example, while I paid US$ 75 for my Trumpeter's Leopold, he said he sells it for S$110 or US$60 only.
But Bangkok may get new models faster than Singapore. That Singapore dealer just bought 3 Mi-24 1:35 and 3 Su-27 1:32 and have them shipped to Singapore. I think there's no export tax, only import.

Hi falconbbs, yup my emails'
[email protected]

Thanks!

I guess dealers here buy at wholesale prices from suppliers at about 35-40% off.
I got a leopold at S$70 (50% off S$140)

From what I think, one can get a 30% or 40% discount if one buys bulk, say about S$1000 from particular hobby stores here.

From what you mentioned, the dealers in Singapore will get only 10% or 5% or 0% profit when someone buys in bulk. They also lose 10% - 15% when they sell the Leopold to you. I wonder how could that be, the Leopold is much in over supply there?. I'll get another one if I can buy it at S$ 70.

BTW, an e-mail has already been sent to you.
