paul, the ribbon isn't based on a real one. the red hour-glass on the ribbon, is found on real female Black-Widow spiders. the difference in the three ribbons is, on has four white stripes, another has two white stripe, and one has none.

Hi Paul

The SMER Messerschmitt Me 262 B is the Heller kit. Not a bad little kit. The Rrevell kit is the best in this scale but think its oop.

Actually, that was the kit I was looking for in the first place. I only found the 262 dayfighter. If it's indeed oop, than that's why I could not find it.
Oh well, I must say I just could not resist and sneaked inside the box. The molds look OK and the PE parts also.

So, do I add seat cushions or do I join the queue of non cushion He 219’s?

Hi Mal!

I would suggest you to go to bed, lay your head on your cushion and sleep well... ... maybe tomorrow everything will be clearer! :-)

More seriously, by watching the two seats (the original and the copy) I can see a lot of differences between the both I don't know if you can trust those pictures...

Hi,
Some dumb German Nightfighter questions for a newbie.
Which 1/48 scale kits should I use to make a Me110 Nightfighter and a JU88 Nightfighter. Didn't Monogram repop some older DML kits in their "Promodeler" series?
Also is there some reference books that are available? Kagero?or??
Just stepping out the door so I haven't had much time to do any searching
Thanks in advance

All this talk about the HE219s got me inspired to pull out a pretty old completed project of mine. It's the DML 1/72 He219A with Cooper Details cockpit, Eduard PE, Falcon canopy, Tally Ho decals and other self-made modifications (like scratch radar array). Hope you enjoy:

Hi Peter

The Revell/Monogram Bf 110G series were all-new kits (not re-boxes). Great models, with masses of detail. There are repacement sets if you're worried by the slightly undersized nacelles and spinners.

The Ju 88s are based on the Dragon kits - I think Promodeler issued a Ju 88C.

Hope this helps

Ok as there doesn't seem to be much interest about the 219 seat cusshions and having taken Jean-Luc's advice and gotten my head down, I think I will just forget about them (still think they would have had them though.........mutter......grumble......mutter.......mutter)..........................................So anyway, next up for discussion is the camouflage. How does RLM 76 over RLM 75, instaed of the otherway around (76 light 75 dark) grab you No more progress as yet:-?

Hi Phil,

No, there is (at least) one other version mentioned. But at the moment I can't check it... The box is wrapped in giftpaper; I recieve it as a present on friday from my daughter (I had to buy my own presents this year )
I'll come back on it after friday, OK?

From memory (always dangerous) the SMER Me 262B1a/U1 comes with four decal options two nightfighters one German trainer and a Czechoslovakian trainer. Osprey's German Jet Aces of World War 2 contains a couple a pictures of nightfighter 262s.

How is everyone coming along so far?

Here is the officially unofficial official Nightfighters ribbon.

In addition I may have to step down as the group build leader. Most of you may know I am in the US Army, and I am a MP. Because of this I recently discovered that I have been activated, and may soon be heading to the Sand box. Once I learn more, I will let you all know.

Hi AJ

First and foremost - keep safe on your posting!

My build? Well... I did a bit of research at the RAF Museum and discovered rivets... thousands of them!

That should keep me busy for a while!

Take care

Hi Rowan, has the kit your building feature the rivets or will you have to do them yourself, and if so how will you accomplish this (without driving yourself mad :-) )
Thanks Andy

Hi Andy

I'll have to add them all by hand. How will I keep my sanity?... who knows; I'll let you all be the judge of whether I was successful when I finish! I hope to make a start tomorrow, so I'll post an update.

All the best

I would come back on this and I must say David 'Tigercat' has a great memory.

There are:
Two version of the ME262 B-1a/U1:
- W.Nr. 110635 - 10./NJG 11 Komando Welter Magdenburg, duben 1945
- W.Nr. 110306 - 10./NJG 11 Komando Welter Magdenburg, duben 1945
One version of an Chez AVIA CS92

And there is one paintsheme that I'm not sure about what it is:
It's called "Schema rozmístêní popisek" which I believe is a common paintscheme for the smaller parts and decals placing (no overall colours are mentioned), so as base info for the two ME262 versions...

Sorry should have made myself clearer, Luftwaffe nightfighter camo was generally RLM 76 Light blue overall (uppers and unders) with a mottle of RLM 75 Grey Violet on the upper surfaces. a few aircraft had black undersides (I think this stemmed from earlier schemes and was sometimes left?) My research has unearthed what appears to be RLM 76 sprayed over RLM 75, which actually gives the type of patterns seen in Tamiya's instruction. Makes sense on several levels.
So I'm planning on doing black undersides, RLM 75 top sides with a RLM 76 overspray that leaves irregular shaped RLM 75 blotches
Any thoughts?

Hi Mal

Yes, I've got refs for both techniques on '219s - the standard mottle and RLM 76 sprayed over to create almost a "net" or "woven" look. More controversially, some have suggested the use of masks to create the latter effect...

We really need to find a ref for the particular aircraft you're modelling. Do you know the unit and W.Nr.?

All the best

A few in progress shots of the Nakajima C6N1-S Saiun (Myrt) night fighter I'm building. Its the Hasegawa kit with Eduard A.M. This is the first time i have majorly used etched sets and i can't believe how small some of the bits are and whats more amazing is i haven't lost a single bit yet :-) .

Thanks Andy
