Hi all!

This is my entry for this month's MOM:
Signifer's 1/48 Grumman JRF Goose in French Indochina "Evacuations Sanitaires" (Evasan) markings.

The model was built some times ago for the "Medics" Campaign but I wanted to include it in a little diorama. luckily I found a photo frame with the same color as the plane on sale! I used plaster for the ground, railroad products for the grass, fuel drums and Jerry can from the Tamiya set and figures from Tarmac (3 sets of French indochina personnal). The access ladder and the wheel chocks are scratchbuild with wire.

This is the Tamiya 1/48 A6 M5c Zero fighter of 203 Flying Group, Ohmura AB in 1945.
Tamiya paints were used except for the metal areas which is Alclad 2 Aluminium. Mig pigments were used for the exhaust / gun stains and for weathering. I wanted to depict this plane as seeing too much war and not enough maintenance, hence the beat up look.
Thanks for looking Andy (++)

Hi. Happy New Year. Here is my entry for MOM Jan. This is Hasegawas 1/48 scale Hs 129 B-2. It was basically built out of the box with Eduard photo-etch seat belts and brake lines made from thin copper wire. ModelMaster paints were used with EagleCal decals being applied after a coat of Future. A wash of Raw Umber oil paint was used with scratched paint being simulated with thinned black gray paint. The base was built using exterior foam insulation that was cut to shape with a jigsaw and the edges sanded smooth with fine sandpaper. Wall spackle was used for the groundwork with kitty litter being pressed down into the still wet spackle. The groundwork was airbrushed with dark earth acryllic paint and then dry brushed with a lighter shade of the base color. Clumps of dried moss were applied with white glue after the paint had dried. The edges were painted flat black with acryllic craft paint. Thanks for looking, Wingman out.

Here is my entry for the January 2006 MOM.

This is the Pro Modeler 1/48 scale Fw 190D-11, I added a resin Ta 152 tail from EagleParts and used the Panzer Blitz rockets from a Tamiya Fw 190F kit to make a model of an a/c that (possibly) was used by II/SG 10 and captured by Russian forces near or at the end of the war.
This Fw 190D was one of the few that was fitted with the big Ta 152 style tail, I am still not sure which type of Dora this is could be a D-11 or D-13.
The Wrk. number on the tail is from the kits decals, on the two photographs of the real a/c the Wrk. number can't be seen.
I used Model Master enamels for painting my model and used a combination of kit and aftermarket decals for the markings.

Tamiya 1/48 F4U-1 "Birdcage" Corsair, representing "Marines Dream" a Marine aircraft operated from coral rock runways in the PTO.
1. Built Out of the Box, except for.
2. Tie down shackle on tale wheel, replaced with wire, antenna wire from smoke coloured invisable thread and the tail post anchor from 0.005" stainless wire, wound around a 0.2mm drill bit and inserted into a hole drilled into the fin post.
3. Paints are by Xtracolor.
4. Decals are by Aeromaster.
5. Weathering was achieved in several stages, due to the fact that same areas are metal covered and some fabric and the two surfaces lighten in the pacific sun by different amounts. So after painting the 2 base colours, the metal areas were masked out, including the screws and metal panels within the fabric areas, then the fabric areas were sprayed with a lightened mix of the paint. After the decals were applied the whole aircraft received an overspray of very thinned medium sea grey, sprayed from directly above, in a controlled random manner. The Star and bar decal on the upper wing surface was masked, over the parts that were on the metal surfaces, and the parts on the fabric surface received a further lightening, with the medium sea grey, to bring it to the same fading as the rest of the area. A medium grey wash was applied, along with fuel spills, oil and grease marks, staining from the engine and exhaust and cordite staining. After the matt coat paint chipping was achieved with a silver pencil, the propeller and the leading edge of the wings were particularly badly effected, by the use of coral for runways, although the chipping and scouring is difficult to see on the light grey paint.

Hey guys, this is my entry for MOM for January.
It is Hasegawas SpitfireMk.IXc 'Clostermann' in 1/48.
This is the first model of any kind that I've done in 20 years as well as my first airbrush job. I did this one straight OOB with no resin or PE anywhere. All paints are Model Master Enamel. Weathering, exhaust stains, cordite stains, and dirt on wheels and underwings was done with stolen make-up from my wife. Paint chips were done with a metalic silver art pencil. Antenna was made from thin fishing line painted with a sharpie...found out too late that this model wasn't supposed to have antenna but I've already given the camera back to it's owner
Lampie made me enter this competition so blame him if it's not up to standards

No animals were harmed in the creation of this model. Any similarity between this model and any real airplane is purely coincidental.

Hasegawa 1:48 Messerschmitt Bf 109F-4 7./JG54 Eastern Front, 1941

This kit has hydraulic lines added from model car ignition wires, seat harness from lead foil and fine solder, and a canopy-retention device made from fine solder as well. The gear doors are omitted as the actual aircraft in this theatre had them removed to avoid clogging with mud and snow. The winter distemper was applied over a 74/75/76 daylight scheme as on the real machines. I also drilled out the exhausts and weapons barrels. Decals are from Cutting Edge. Enjoy!

heres my entry, its an eduard DH2 profipack kit, in the box as well as the kit itself, is a small p/e fret and pre cut masks for the fusalage and wheels, paints are all humbrol. and the rigging.....lots and lots! i used fine fishing line through pre drilled holes in the main, but here and there i had to wing it, because even with the plan of the rigging provided in the instructions, this was one complex job!
enjoy!

Hello fellow modelers!
Here my first enty for MOM. It also the last before I go to the army. (Check out my thread in the soldier stories section and wish me luck )
Back to business. This is Revell's reboxing of Hasegawa's Supermarine Spitfire mk.XVI, built with Eduard's Zoom PE.

The panel lines were re-scribed to make them a little deeper, as many hasegawa kits feature almos too delicate panel lines. It's easy to fill the details with paint when working with paint brushes, like I did on this one. (btw, this is most likely one of my very last models painted entirely by hand as Santa brought me an AB last christmas) The camouflage was painted with Xtracrylics and the panel lines were accented with lifecolor "oil".

The decals, along with the instructions (some mistakes and omissions and the colors mentioned only from revell enamels, some being mixed from several colors) where the only not-so-good aspects of the kit. The box top advertised "super decals". The only thing "super" in them turned out to be the large amount of stenciling. They weren't rubbish, but could have been much better. The decals were matt, stiff and were reluctant to conform to surface detail without micro-sol. With softener, however, they went on fine.

I dediced to keep the weathering to a minimum, only adding some subtle paint chipping here and there.
There, my first ever Spitfire was done. I hope you like it.

(Funny. Many people start their modeling hobby with a Spitfire or Bf-109, but I built my first Spit after 8 years. My first Messerschmitt is currently in the stash, I'm planning to build it for the FAF campaign later this year)

Heres my entry for MOM.
Airfix 1/72 Spitfire MK I.
This is my return to modelling after a 20 year break and was bought as a Xmas present for me in 2004.
After almost a year sitting on a shelf and taunting me I decided to go for it and get back into the hobby.
Its built OOB and sprayed with Humbrol enamels. My first attempt at airbrushing.
Exhaust and cordite stains are brushed on pastel chalk powder and paint chippings were done with a silver pencil.Ariel is invisible thread.
Altogether a very satisfying finish to my first project after the break and the kit stash is growing rapidly.

This months entry is a Revell 1/35 Bo 105 PAH -1. Built out of box with the exception of the pilots seat belts. Painted with Tamiyas paints, most had to be specially mixed to get the right colors. I made the rotor sag by bending them under hot water. Applied the decals using Micro-Sol decal solution and followed by a couple of coats of matt finish.

Hi All,

I decided to recycle this one. It is an old Otaki 1/48 Ki-61 Hein, A.K.A. "Tony".

There really was not any cockpit to speak of, so I used my Monogram Japanese Cockpits book to scratch one. The same for the slabs-of-plastic landing gear covers.

Tony is painted with Polly Scale and old Polly S.
