Hey bottlerocket, I really appreciate the offer but yesturday I couldn't get back on Armorama for a long time so while the site was down I talked to my son about the campaign. Since his P-40 entry for the SYT campaign was destroyed by his little brother he now wants to do an AVG P-40 Flying Tiger. Unless anyone is interrested in building a Japanese fighter of that period to go along with it I'll build one with him.
Again, thanks for the offer.
Jean-Luc, after reading my above post I should apologize. I didn't mean to sound so rude at all. I was just wanting to know if it would be alright to do two entries with two different people. Sorry

Hi Hermon!
I didn't found your reply to be "rude"... don't worry! I Hope you don't think mine was! In fact I wanted to tell about the "Duel with three" rule some times ago... your question was just a good opportunity!

Did someone say Japanese aircraft :-) .
I will team up with you Lilaviator, i could build a Nakajima Ki-27 Nate, Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa or if bombers are allowed, ( please Jean-Luc, ive been dieing to build this kit for a reason ) as they were frequently shoot down by the P-40 a Mitsubishi Ki-21 "Sally".

Hi Andy, that would be great!
Any of the Japanese planes you mentioned would go perfectly with an AVG P-40. I'll be helping Hunter out on his build as far as advice and technical stuff so it won't be as if you're being stuck with a kid.... :-)
He was really disappointed when his P-40 for the SYT campaign was destroyed so he and I are both excited for him to get a chance to do another Tiger for this campaign. When we get ready to start the campaign and his kit arrives in the mail I'll send you some info on it so you'll know exactly which Flying Tiger he'll be building.
Thanks again, this means I don't have to build another plane for this campaign......so I can concentrate on the other 300 campaigns I'm already entered in.

Hey Andy,
As a side note, my Uncle, Ed Rector was credited with the AVG's first ever combat kill on December 20th, 1941.....and it was a Japanese "Lily" bomber near Kunming China.

Brilliant idea just accured, can you find out your Uncles serial numbers of his aircraft. It would be a great tribute to him if Hunter builds his aircraft while I'll build his "kill".

Already ahead of you my good man. :-)
If you've seen my SYT campaign entry it was done in the exact markings of my Uncles 2nd plane with the AVG (first plane ran out of gas after he followed a Japanese bomber too far from base and had to crash land it in a rice paddy.)
This is going to be loads of fun! Thanks again Andy, you've made an 11 year old very happy!

This campaign is not only for fighters. A reco or bomber can also enter a duel. For example FW 190 "Sturmbock" against B-17 or B-24, "Raiden" against B-29, "Stuka" against Spitfire or Hurricane during BOB, Do 17 against MS 406 etc...
We can also allow "What if" duels with a Curtiss XP 55 Ascender against a German Luft'46 design. Why not?
Hi Andy!
I hope this answers your question positively!
This Campaign idea was indeed meant to bring people together... and also a good reason to build the kits you always wanted to build!

Do you have any info on the "Lily" that your Uncle shot down, i think i have found the unit ( 21Dokuritsu Hikotai, 82 Chutai, ), but i can't find any markings or paint schemes .

Hi Andy,
I did manage to find a website with an interview with one of the Japanese pilots that fought in the battle with the AFG on Dec 20, 1941.
http://www.warbirdforum.com/suzuki.htm
It says that the 21st Hikotai was made up of 10 Nakajima Ki-27 "Nate" fighters and 10 Kawasaki Ki-48 "Lily" twin-engined light bombers.
Unfortunatly I also have been unable to find any markings for these planes. However I do remember Jean-Luc saying that actual squadron markings were not 100% necessary as long as the opposing aircraft had done combat in the same theater of war.
I'll continue looking when I get a chance.

Exact... and the same time period!
