Hi all!
It seems this year will be a great year for aircraft modelers. Some very interesting subjects are supposed to hit the shelves in the near future. Of course I have my favorites amongst them (all 1/48):
- Eduard Polikarpov I-16 serie
- Fonderie miniature Dornier Do 24T
- Fonderie Miniature Short Sunderland
- ICM Lavochkin LaGG-3
- MPM Heinkel He 177
- MPM/Eduard Avia B-534
- Special Hobby Bristol Beaufort
- Special Hobby Fairey Albacore
- Special Hobby Fiat Br.20
- Trumpeter Vickers Wellington MkIII
On the other side, here is a list of kits wich I'm not so fond of (all 1/48):
- Dragon Focke-Wulf Ta 154
- Eduard Focke-Wulf FW 190 serie
- Hasegawa Bell P-400
- ICM Messerschmitt Bf 109F serie
- MPM Gloster Gladiator
- Special Hobby Fairey Battle
- Tamiya Heinkel He-162
So what is your good/bad kit list for this year of any scale and era?

Hi Jean-Luc
I can't agree about Eduard's Fw 190 - I'm really looking forward to it. Tamiya's late-mark 'As have always had big question marks hanging over some of their dimensions, so the prospect of an accurate '190 to the latest standards of detail is exciting.
Likewise, Dragon's Ta 154 - I welcome the update of the Revell-Monogram kit to include new options. I'm working on the review right now - and I like it.
Is the Special Hobby Fairey Battle a re-release of the Classic Airframes kit? Shame if it is - but SH might have taken the opportunity to correct the nose profile...
As you can imagine, I share your excitement about most of the kits on the list - let's just hope the results of them all live up to expectations...
But your list isn't really a "wish list" - there are lots of kits I'd like to see in 1/48 scale that haven't been announced yet. How about a Henschel Hs 126, a new Blohm & Voss Bv 155, a Gloster Reaper or a Westland Welkin for starters? Or perhaps Eduard could do a Hawker Hart family? Now THAT could be fantastic!
All the best
Rowan

Not one Japanese bomber in there, typical if it had a German flag on it there would be 15 different versions with 200 different markings :-) .
Guess what i want on my wishlist.
Also a 1/48 injection plastic Gloster Javelin pleeeeeaaaaasssseeeeeee.

Hi Rick!
I think for 1/32 the way to go is Trumpeter! They plan to release a Dauntless in that scale! I think someone is currently working on a P-47 kit in 1/32. By the way, I know a LHS in Metz who has Revell's 1/32 Beaufighter! It's an old kit but sometimes I'm tempted...

Hi Rowan!
I saw your News post and I knew you would say something like that! :-) Ok, I was a little bit provocative as I placed the New Eduard 1/48 kit in my bad list... It's just that there are so many kits I would like to see first (Hs 126!). But if Eduard do a FW 190 "special edition" wich includes 3 kits, 12 alternative schemes, PE parts, masks, additional ground crew and diorama base, how could I resist! :-)
About the Ta 154, I thought it was an all new tooling and not a revised tooling!

Hi Andy!
That's indeed too bad... but Eduard just released a nice 1/48 IJA ground crew figure set. Better than nothing!
Thanks for your comments guys... and keep them coming!

Hi Jean-Luc
No, some press releases were misleading. I tried to put that straight here pdq when Jimbrae unwittingly reported the kit was all new in his News item some months back. I've been lucky enough to have worked with the designers at Dragon on this one, so I had it from the horse's mouth, so to speak, that it was based on the Revell-Monogram kit (which actually originated with Dragon in the first place). Now, with the parts in front of me, I can vouch that it's an update.
Hopefully, I'll get the review written over the next week or so, if my wonky arm permits.
All the best
Rowan
PS - As soon as I saw Eduard's Japanese figures set, I knew you'd be excited!

I do hope to live long enough to see a Fokker D-XXI and Fokker G1 in injected plastic in 1:48 scale.
Off course, the G1 isn't very likely to happen, but the D XXI may have potential ( flew with Finland and Denmark aswell ).
And being Dutch: What about a Fokker F27 Friendship ? It has enough potential as military aswell as civillian craft

Hi Richard
Classic Airframes brought out a D-XXI as one of their early kits - Jean-Luc actually built a beauty from it. But it would be great to see those two aircraft done to today's standards.

Hi again!
Rowan, I've already ordered the IJA Ground Crew Set with the Yak 1B boxing!
Richard, Classic Airframe's Fokker D XXI is indeed a nice kit! It was the first kit I built from this manufacturer and I must say I enjoyed it. Classic Airframes are one of my favourite manufacturer... too bad their kits are a little bit pricey.
The G.1 is also a very cool looking aircraft... too bad nobody produces this one in 1/48! This would be something interesting for Classic Airframes or a Czech Short Run manufacturer!

Jean-Luc, I am building exactly that one in 1/72 by MPM lol
Too bad the orange tailfin decal caught a bit too much sun though.

Out of the lists of new kits coming out this year and next, I am excited about (all in 1/48th of course):
MPM Heinkel He 177
Special Hobby Bristol Beaufort
Trumpeter Vickers Wellington MkIII
Eduard Messerschmitt Bf 110 series
Classic Airframes Avro Anson
What I wish for from the manufacturers (also 1/48th):
Either Tamiya to re-release their Lancaster BI/III or a newly molded example to be announced.
Curtiss C-46 Commando
Horsa glider
WACO glider
Re-release of the RM/RoG PBY 5 and PBY 5A Catalinas
A new or re-release of the Fokker D XXI would be cool.
Fokker G-1
And please, please, please - a newly tooled Dornier Do 17Z
There a few more, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

I would surely buy a 1/32 scale Skyraider.... and even probably build it.......
Andy, cheer up, as Jean Luc said "That's indeed too bad... but Eduard just released a nice 1/48 IJA ground crew figure set. Better than nothing!"
You could do a nice little base and pretend they are away on a mission.

Hi Rick and Frank!
A Me 110 G in 1/32 scale! That must be big! I didn't knew something like that exists... do you have pictures!
And a B-25 in 1/32 would be a huge model also! Do you have your own hangar at home Rick?
All the serie in one time Frank? Maybe Eduard will release a 7 in 1 boxing of the I-16... otherwise it will cost us a lot of money!

Jean-Luc,Revell did the bf-110 in 1/32 back in the 70's with all the others of the day.e-Bay has them frequently for 15-30 USD.Many accuracy issues. There is a deep tweaks list on Large Scale Planes website.Hmm, I don't think a B-25 would be all that much bigger than a Beaufighter? Most of these large scale older kits lack cockpit detail, etc. For me,I more or less do OOB and get somewhat detail goofy with armor subjects/dioramas.
cheers!

It would be great if Airfix could launch a totally new 1/48 Spitfire Mk Vc with engraved panel lines in the fuselage and new wings, not the ones that comes with the Seafire Mk III / Spitfire Mk Vc actual kit.

I would welcome some late war or post war Spits (Seafires, Mk.24-s etc.) in 1-72, or PR.IX, or any of the less popular versions.
A completely new B-26 Marauder would also be great in 1-72. At the moment we only have the fossilic Revell kit.

trying to keep my list small (which is a BIG effort)
new kits (1/48th):
Eduard I-16
Eduard Messerschmitt Bf 110 (where is news on these?)
Eduard fw190
Fonderie Miniature Dornier Do 24
might have to give in an do that short sutherland that was mentioned too though...
and i second that vote for a Dornier Do 17z (any any other early model of that a/c)!!!

Hi Rowan!
Look what I found in the latest Wing Masters (French Aircraft Model Magazine)
It seems the wait is gonna have an end!
Other infos I found in the magazine:
- For US Navy jet fans, FM plans to release a F9F-8 Cougar.
- By Azur there is a Potez 630/631 and a Potez 60.11 to come.
- MPM will do a Fairey Fulmar.
- Special Hobby a CAC Wirraway and a Tiger Moth.
- Zvezda will fill the gap in the serie of Lavochkin fighters with a La-5FN.
These are only some of the 1/48 models that are listed for 2006!
In 1/32 scale it is even more spectacular:
- Azur: Bloch MB 151/152, Caudron 714 (!?), Leo C.30 (!?) and Curtiss H-75A-3.
- Redux: P-47D Razorback.
- Roden: SE5A
- Special Hobby: P-39D, H-75, Hansa-Brandenburg C.I, He 100 (!?), A-36 Apache and P-51 A Mustang and Yak 3.
- Trumpeter, P-40 M and N, TBD-1 Devastator, SBD Dauntless, FW 190D9, A6A Intruder, EA-6A Prowler, AV-8B Harrier II, F-100 Super Sabre and MiG 29K.
- Fonderie Miniature: Airspeed Horsa (1/35 scale)
Did someone spoke of a "Golden Age" for modelers?
