Hi John,

Thank you for your service. Colors depend on the sub type F4U-1, 1A, 1C, 1D, etc.... time of delivery and who they served with. The paint you describe may be appropriate for later war aircraft. Go to the review articles and gallery on this site there is corsairs here you can study.
Two books that are very helpful are Squadron Publications F4U Corsair and Ospreys Aircraft of the Aces on the Corsair as well. Plus there is a load of aftermarket decals with color plates here is some of many available;

Sincerely,
Brian

Yes, which corsair kit do you have (for example -1D). The Glossy sea blue would be appropriate for some of the variations, but not all.

Depending on when it served in the Pacific it could be: overall medium blue with roundel markings;
medium blue with white undersides;
dark blue top, medium blue sides and white undersides, except for the wings outboard of the fold which were the same as the upper wing;
all dark blue with white undersurfaces inboardof the wing folds;
overall gloss dark blue (through Korea);
Post Korea light gray with white control surfaces

The main US Navy aircraft camouflage schemes where:

Early war
Non-specular blue gray
Non-specular light gray (FS 36440)

Tri-colour
Non-specular sea blue (FS35042)
NS intermediate Blue (FS35164)
NS insignia white (FS37875)

all over blue
Gloss sea blue (FS15042)

Non-specular means that it had a matt finish.
