Okay... now that I've got your attention...
Have you heard of the "Club Med: Sand, Sea, Sunshine... and Bullets!" campaign?
Operational Overview
This campaign will run for 6 months, from 1 June 2006 - 31 December 2006.
The focus of this campaign will be the Middle East & Mediterranean theatres of battle of World War II, and the men, women and equipment that gallantly took part therein.
Herewith follows a list of British campaigns and key battles which should provide a good starting point for participants:
- Abyssinia 1940-41: Keren, Amba Alagi, The Juba, Gondar
- British Somaliland 1940
- Iraq 1941
- Syria 1941: Damascus, Damour
- North Africa 1940-43: Sidi Barrani, Bardia, Tobruk, Beda Fomm, Gazala, Mersah Matruh, Alamein Line, Alam El Halfa, El Alamain, Medenine, Mareth, Tebaga Gap, Wadi Akarit, Enfidaville, Tebourba Gap, Bou Aradi, Kasserine, Fondouk, Oued Zarga, El Kourzia, Medjez plain, Tunis
- Sicily 1943: Landings in Sicily, Adrano

- Greece 1941: Mount Olympus
- Greece 1944-45
- Middle East 1941-44: Crete 1941, Malta 1940-42
The Rules and Regs
This is a general modelling campaign, therefore all relevant genres (i.e. Armour, Aircraft, Figures, Softskins and Maritime) and scales will be accepted. The key point here is the word "relevant". The troops, armour, aircraft, etc must have taken part in the theatre/campaign depicted. The campaign leader reserves the right to request a participant to justify their entry or entries.
Contest Element
Participants may enter as many relevant entries as they so with, provided the entry is completed during the time period.
For their efforts, partipants will be awarded a nifty piece of cyber-ribbon to add to their collections and show off to friends and family.

Hi Rudi!
I already signed in and my entry will be a... Spitfire! I know someone who will be happy :-)
The kit is from ICM and its a 1/48 scale SpitfireMk. VIII flown by Capt. L. molland, 308th FS, 31st FG, Castel Volturno, Italy, February 1944. I think Spitfires in Mediterranean schemes and with U.S. stars are the best looking ones! I just hope the kit's decals will work fine (they look suspect to me ).
I think I will build it in the summer, probably in August, as I will be very busy in the month June and July, for other reasons than modelling... :-)8 Anyway, I think the hot summer days will suit perfectly to this Campaign! :-)

Hi again
Well I'm already signed up for this - so it's a question of what to build... I think the CRAFTY PLAN might involve something Italian to tie in with planned reviews.
All the best

Great timing! I was just getting ready to commence work on a trio of Gustavs from the Med theater. I'll be entering three Academy 1/72 Bf-109G-6's. White 9 "Seeman" from JG 53, Red 13 from 11./JG 27 and Yellow 16 from JG 77.

I have a 109E from JG27 I'd like to try. A nice camo pattern that should put my skills to the test.

Hi Jean-Luc,
I couldn't agree more:
If you think the decals are not right there are many aftermarket decals available for US Spitfires. Let me know if you need some.
Sincerely,
Brian

Hi Brian!
I hope the decals will work fine as I like the decoration that is in the box. But if I'm unlucky with them, I'll remember you!

Rudi
I am already booked in the Duel in the Sky & Meeoww campaigns so I can't really squeeze another in.
Unless I can be extra cheeky and enter one model in 2 campaigns as the entries for the above campaigns will be: P40B Tomahawk 3 Sq RAAF Libya December 1941, and the CyberHobby DAK Tiger 1.
Anyone would think that I had a Nth Africa fetish (well in plastic anyway :-) )
Brian
