Nice work Stephen!
It looks really nice so far!
But it also looks very much Beaten up! Maybe my Corsair gave a small lesson to urs! :-)
Keep it up!
Cheers!

Hi George
We'll see who beats who .. btw here is the pic I am referring to :
and here is another one (take a look at the A that has an angle .. I accidently replicated that ... I feel like Bob Ross .. "We do not make mistakes, that are all happy accidents"
I glues some mesh behind the intakes (milled that out before painting) I did a little work on the engine (not much, as there will not be seen much of it)
Furthermore I added some decals, put a gloss coat on (Testors metal colour sealer) a washing with water colours and a semi gloss coat to seal the wash .. takes all pretty much time because of the drying process .. I will try some wheathering with oils for the faded look tomorrow (... should take som photos before that ...)
cheers
Steffen

Awesome Steffen!!
Hi Jan
Thanks, but neiter me nor the model deserve that .. I just added a little mesh and wire to make it look busy ... unfortunately this is the thinnest I have at hand now.. the ignition wires should be a little thinner .. but as already said most diappears in the darkness of the cowl.
Here are two more pictures. First an overall view. The prop is not fixed yet and most of the u/c still not mounted. (sorry it is lighted artificially, but the wheather does not permit a nice outside pic today)
Now some more repair. The original photo above shows that this machine had no head rest, so i had to fill the hole with sprue and sanded it smooth. As I was at the cockpit again, I thought about the seam line in the indention. Finally I decided it would be best covered. So I cut a piece of paper and put on a drop of thin super glue ... looks ok now.
as always, comments and questions welcome ... even you Jean-Luc
cheers

Hi Steffen!
Since you asked! :-)
I think it's a great build so far! The weathering looks great. I especially like the way it looks on the flaps (last picture). Very realistic!
I'm looking forward to see it finished... maybe on a nice base!

Hi Jean-Luc
Many thanks! but as i already wrote Jan .. it is nothing special, just oob. I just asked you personally as you seem to have an eye for details being wrong ... it is still time to change things and of course you are the campaign leader
Hmm, a base ... could be hard, as I have no idea under which circumstances and a/d conditions the 343rd flew ... any idea anyone
cheers

Thanks George!
regarding your question: if you build a carrier based Corsair some kind of carrier deck (IIRC Eduard and Just Planes Stuff have that) if it is a Marine Corps Corsair I would go with a white "coral-sand" base...
just my 2 € ct
cheers

Hey Steffen!
Yes i am still here! Though i am not active at all!
I salute u with respect for ending ur project (very nice one) and thus winning me (since i haven't finished mine)!!
It was fun, but i couldn't finish my model in time! I'll probably present it in MoM or something!
Cheers to a very nice campaign!
Good luck for the rest Steffen!

Hi George
Too bad .. I t was a nice duel. If you have some time; Jean--Luc granted an overtime until Sunday .... as you like it .. I am also struggling to get two campaign models done one Bf 109 for DitS (which is pretty advanced and will be finished tomorrow) and a Buffalo which is quite fractious ..
happy new year
best wishes
Steffen

Hi Steffen!
Wow! That's a great war beaten "George" you've made! Sorry but I must have missed it the 31st of December...
The weathering and paint shipping is really good. Congratulations! I hope it won't scary all the Corsairs away though... There are still a few days left (until Sunday 7th) to finish the Campaign!

Unfortunatelly the few free time i have and the sickness that stroke me down to bed(a nasty cold) have left really far behid to get it done in 3 days! I will do my best though! ( if i manage to get off bed and get to the workshop)!! But nevertheless it was nice compiting with Steffen!
I wish all the best modelling to all for the new year!

Hi George
better try to get well, in the end it is only modelling and your health is much more valuable than a campaign ribbon. Do not worry about me, I will get my ribbon in any case as I have finished 4 models ...
Get well soon!
best wishes
