Post your entries for the MOM for September here.
Please read the following.
1. Do not forget to add information about the model, voters will be encouraged to check this out before voting and it may influence their vote. New.......please put the info about your model in one place. I will only copy the first set of information to put in the gallery, so if you add a piece before each picture only the first part (above the first pic) will be copied.
2. Only post 3 pics, no composites and no pics of real aircraft (even for comparison)
3. Any model of an aircraft, from any era in any scale is eligible
4. Entry will be open until the 15th or 16th
5. NEW Your pics MUST be a maximum of 750 pixels wide. (if you aren't able to alter the size then send them to me and I can do it for you. Alternatively I may be able to copy the pic, size and replace it. Any pics over this size will have to be deleted (I do not want to have to do this)
6. Also, Please comply with this
Please rename your pics using a number followed by your CALLSIGN. By this I mean the file name, this is because:
a. When I copy the pics into a folder on my hard drive I have to copy them with the original filename (so I can't change them when I copy them)
b. So that they stay together in the gallery and so that I don't have to name each pic and so they appear in the order in which they were posted I have to re-name each pic with the members callsign. You may imagine what it's like trying to get the 3 pics from each member together (50-60 pics in total with all sorts of file names and some not matching their mates).
A further explanation: When you take the pic it will be given a file name, by the camera. When you open the pic on your PC, right click on it and choose "change name" change the name of the pic to a number (001) followed by your Callsign (Holdfast). the pic is now re-named 001Holdfast (or your number and callsign) .
So if you use a file name that begins with a number and has your Callsign you will save me about 2 hours work
For example my 3 pics could be 001Holdfast, 002Holdfast and 003Holdfast. I hope this is clear
Lets see if we can get an even better turn out this month and for the coming year.
Entry will close on the 15th or 16th and I will start the voting thread as soon as possible after that.
[b]There will be a prize to the winning entry of a "Harricature," a caricature of that entry drawn by Harri (Jetprovost), who also does comissions.

This is Tamiya's 1/48 Bf109E-3. The cockpit was masked with Parafilm M and the model was airbrushed with Hannant's Xtracrylix RLM76, RLM02, RLM71. The decals are OOB and after application the model was given a coat of Future before a wash with oils to darken the panel lines. A final coat of Gamesworkshop matt varnish was applied. The exhaust and gun stains were done with Mig powders. The aerial wire is fishing line painted dark grey.

Classic Airframes 1:48 Messerschmitt Bf 109A-6 "Legion Condor".
Hi All,
Here you see the excellent offering in quarter-scale by Classic Airframes of the Bf 109A-6. Done in Alclad II "Duraluminum, and first preshaded with Testor's Acryl "Aircraft Interior Black". This gem of a kit was built OOB. Note that NO fighters of the "Legion Kondor" in the Spanish Civil War theatre at the time carried any radio gear..hence the lack of antennae.

Here is my Accurate Minitures SBD-3. Built out of box mostly, only additions being PE seatbelts, Super Scale "Operation Torch" decals and an antenna made of invisible thread pulled over a Sharpie with wire springs and hooks. I also thinned the cowl flaps to a more scale thickness and added wire actuators. And since one could now see the back of the engine (a little) I added exhaust and intake pipes made from solder. Paint is all Model Master enamels. Weathering is thinned Tamiya acryls over a good coat of Future followed by Polly Scale flat.

This is the Revell Sopwith Camel in 1:72 scale
Painted in the markings of Lawrence Percival Coombes,10 (Naval) Sqn based at Eastchurch in November 1918
Its built oob and sprayed with Tamiya Acrylics.Details were painted with Humbrol Enamels.
Masking and spraying took just over 3 weeks.Tamiya masking tape,(over 1 roll) was cut into thin strips and used for the bulk of the masking and I made circular paper masks for the curves on the wings. The fusalage is about the size of my little finger and the stripes were masked and painted one at a time.
The rigging is smoke coloured invisible thread and the model was finished off with a couple of coats of Humbrol Matt Varnish.
A very enjoyable project from start to finish.
More photos can be found HERE
Good luck everyone.

My first ever entry for MOM is Tamiya's 1/48 Sea Harrier FRS.1. It is built out of the box and painted with Tamiya acrylics. The kit itself is pretty basic, and is a bit lacking in detail, but it was a fun build. For weathering I washed the panel lines.

Hobbycrafts 1/48 YP-59 Airacomet.
Built OOB. Xtracrylix paints used.
Markings for the R.A.F version.
One Airacomet was swapped with the British R.A.F in exchange for a Gloster Meteor. British pilots found that the aircraft compared very unfavourably to the locally produced jets that they were already flying.

Hi all
finally I have another model to enter. It is Eduards Polikarpov I-16 type 10 in the markings of Iwan A. Lakeev. He did an outstanding sevice in Spain and recieved the Gold Star Hero of the Soviet Union in 1937. Afterwards he served in the far east, winter war and GPW.
The model shows his machine at the Khalkin Gol as it was portrayed in the Sprint Scale decal sheet (which is sadly only available in 1/72) The colours are from WEM and I used kit decals and my spares box for the number. More about the build can be read in the Duel thread Clanky44 vs alpha_tango
cheers

My 1st entry -- just finished today.
Classic Airframes 1/48 Supermarine Walrus.
Not quite OOB -- added seatbelts, intake manifold, towing-eyes, cleats, and a towrope, etc ... Steel wire rigging. Tamiya paints. No weathering. Lots of blood, sweat, and tears ... But I love the airplane and learned to love the kit.

Gavia's 1/48 Westland Lysander Mk IIIA 309 (Polish) Sqn RAF 1942-43
1. Built OOb except for:
a. Scratch built Piolots seat, with Eduard etched harness.
b. Nav lights replaced using clear sprue.
c. Antenna replaced using brass tube, crushed and filed to shape. (the kit one won't support the antenna wire.
d. Crash moulded pilots canopy top, so it can be posed in the open position.
e. Antenna wire added from smoke coloured invisable mending thread.
Painting:
White primer coat, black pre-shading on the underside, same colour pre-shading on the upper surfaces. Paints used are White Ensign Models Colourcoates.
2 hand brushed coats of Klear then kit decals applied (except for the Codes for which I substituted the ones from the Eduard "Profi Pack" re-boxing, as they are a much better colour.
2 more hand brushed coats of Klear, then washes using artist oil colour and turpintine.
A matt coat and a little bet of paint chipping, oil staining etc.
