". . . To begin using Photo-Etch Brass you will need a few tools which you will probably already have. You will need a modelers knife with a sharp blade, a Swiss file, a pair of tweezers, something to cut on, and a pair of long nose pliers with smooth gripping surfaces (not textured). The smooth surface will not leave marks or deform the brass when you are working on it. Your cutting board should be of a hard substance that will not deform the brass when you are cutting on it, but will not dull your knife too quickly. I use aluminum but you could also use brass or wood. Kitchen cutting boards that come in wood or plastic are excellent and are quite cheap, but make sure the surface is flat and not textured. . ."

Since there are several projects I am working on that use PE I am bringing this up to post some images and for others to ask their questions. A thread for WWI PE.

Just a quick trip back into the ancient days when PE was just being introduced to aviation modelers. Rail road modelers first gave us PE and the "WWI aviation modeling Guru" of us all was ( and by rights still is) the good fellow Harry Woodman defined it. PE was never meant to stand alone. Often it must be thickend and given a round or oval crossection with expoxy ( no super glue back then) or plastic strip in halfrounds. Think of PE as the bare bones of the finished product you want to model.
