Glen Coleman has sent us exciting news of the next 1:48 release from Kitty Hawk - the Lockheed Martin F-35B.
Currently planned for service with the US Marine Corps, Britain's Royal Navy and the Italian Navy, the controversial STOVL (Short Take-Off & Vertical Landing) variant of the Lightning II strike fighter will be the first supersonic aircraft in service to feature this capability.

Kit #KH80102 is due for release within the next two months, and we'll bring you more details of the contents, price and availability as soon as they are available.

Please remember, when contacting retailers or manufacturers, to mention that you saw their products highlighted here - on AEROSCALE.

That is good news,I must confess ignorance though as I have never heard of the company.what is the quality of their kits ?

With little research they seem to be new on the scene with only a F-94 in the line.but from what i've seen of that aircraft they look very promising.

The rendering doesn't look promising (way too chunky), so will have to wait and see what the plastic looks like. Seeing this and other F-35s taxi by on a daily basis sure has warmed me up to the jet. It's come a long way from ship 1. Not holding my breath, especially on a subject that has very little access.

Looks Nice! Would like to see the "C" Carrier version.
MAY 22, 2012 - 12:49 PM
Well I'll take a C variant if they do one and which ever the variant the FAA end up getting.

Promising! But a bit too soon for me. I usually do not build prototypes. I would like to see that plane enter full production first.

I agree. Even though the prototypes are not flying anymore (only the EMD Aircraft are), there have been signifcant design changes to the airframe; enough so that it's just not a good time to be making a kit of the jet. Once the final production versions are out, that would be the time to more accurately protray the F-35 line up in kit form.
