Our original release was produced using the Digital Silk production method and covered the basic markings of four aircraft. We are now re-editioning this set in industry standard screen-printed decal form. Compared to the earlier edition, the new one has been substantially modified to cover seven options including three ARU - converted FR.IXC, two ARU - converted standard fuselage FR.XIVE with full span wings, and two factory-standard (all-around vision canopy low-fuselage FR.XIVE with clipped wings. Most subjects feature nickname script style nose art.
-digital silk near print-on-demand printed in occasional runs.
-available in 1/72, 1/48, and 1/32 scale versions.
-decals to model 1 of 4 distinctive aircraft: 2x FR.IXc and 2x FR.XIVe
-optionally you may purchase just the standard roundels, or just the main sheet in 1/32 scale.
-two aircraft feature nose inscriptions.
-four 8.5 x 11in. pages of illustrated instructions, including drawings for the straightforward FR conversion (hi resolution b&w supplied in the package).
-Home-printable colour PDF version available via email after purchase.
With subject coverage expanded from four to seven aircraft, the updated set also features a few revised markings details for the older subjects based on new research. An extensive set of stencil data / maintenance markings which includes Mk.IX and Mk.XIV airframe variations has also been added to the set.
Four of the subjects (two each Mk.IX and Mk.XIV) feature script style nicknames nose art. Two of the subjects (one each Mk.IX and Mk.XIV) were finished in the earlier Day Fighter and Operation Overlord distinctive markings comprising Sky spinners and fuselage bands and "invasion" stripes on the lower rear fuselage.
Overall, the set offers paint and markings variety, as well as the opportunity to add two or three relatively rare operational Spitfire variants to your collection.
