Polish WW2 aircraft models are not that common. To My knowledge, an injected kit of the PZL P.23 "Karas" was only available in 1/72 scale by Heller so far. Now the waiting is over for the 1/48 crowd as Mirage Hobby, specialists in Polish airplanes, have just released what seems to be a promising kit!
A PZL P.23 "Karas" was announced a long time ago by the Polish manufacturer Mirage Hobby. It was feared the model would never been produced and it is a good surprise to see it is available right now at Warsaw Model Center.
As with the PZL P.11 kit, Mirage Hobby plans to produces different boxings:
- 48133: PZL P.23 A Early (Polish Air Force)
- 48134: PZL P.23 A Late (Polish Air Force)
- 48135: PZL P.23 B (Rumanian Air Force)
- 48136: PZL P.43 (Bulgarian export version)
It is always nice to see a manufacturer produce model kits of such "exotic", but historically still important planes. If the quality of this kit is the same as the PZL P.11, no doubt the PZL P.23 will be seen quite often on contest tables in the next months!
By the time you are reading this news, the model should be available at most online stores and soon hit the shelves of every good LHS.
(Editors note: a review of Mirage Hobby's new PZL 23A should appear on Armorama very shortly...)
