Model Rectifier Corporation have sent us details of the new quarterscale CH-34 kit from Gallery Models:
MRC-Gallery Introduces CH-34 U.S. Army Rescue Helicopter Kit

"A variation of the H-34 Choctaw, Gallery Models' 1/48 scale CH-34 U.S. Army Rescue chopper (item #64103) can handle up to eight stretchers when used in Med Evac mode, or up to 16 troops. The kit includes both seats and litters so the modeler has a choice of configuration.

Gallery used well over 300 parts, including a number of highly accurate photo etched components. To allow for maximum cabin accuracy and to facilitate building, the cabin walls are separate from the fuselage sections. This clearly exposes details like ribs and stringers. The cockpit seats are highlighted by a pair of well defined, photo etched, pilot harnesses that are part of the comprehensively detailed cockpit. All cabin seats have photo etched seat belts. In fact, the photo etch sheets are so complete they feature every screened air vent, antenna and even the windscreen wipers.

The radial engine is accurately reproduced, including life-like cooling shrouds. The engine bay door can be built open to expose engine accuracy. In capturing the CH-34's shape, Gallery has precisely reproduced the heli's distinctive "bent-leg" landing gear and low exhaust positioning. The tail can be built in the folded position for convenient hanger storage.
