New from Albatros Productions comes the latest Windsock Datafile, this time dedicated to the Handley Page V/1500 - and, wow! - what a monster! With a wingspan of over 20 inches in 1:72, I wonder if we'll ever see a mainstream kit of Handley Page's strategic bomber. In larger scales, the sheer weight of the wings might be an issue, although it would be an ideal candidate for a vacuform kit, or scratchbuilt using the classic Harry Woodman technique...
Handley Page heavyweight!
"Making a great addition to the popular DATAFILE series is Colin A Owers' study of the enormous Handley Page V/1500 four-engined bomber of WWI. This Royal Air Force behemoth was all set to make raids on Berlin in 1918 but with the signing of the Armistice in November, the eager crews were stood down. Colin has the full story of the bombers' career in depth with the aid of 60 photos, contemporary sketches and detailed appendices. Ronny Bar contributes six great new colour profiles that dominate the inner and rear covers, whilst Roberto Zanella depicts the dramatic bombing of Kabul's Royal Palace in 1919 on the front. Due to the V/1500's great size, we have been unable to include 1:48 scale GAs this time but Marty Digmayer's all new 1 :72 scale plans are sufficient alone to convey the mammoth proportions of the RAF's first ever 'heavy bomber'."
Price £4.80 plus p&p direct from www.windsockdatafilespecialsco.uk or selected outlets worldwide.
