After some delays the long awaited release of the 1/72 EC-135N/E ARIA/ALOTS is here. Also called a "Droop-Snoot" or "Snoopy Nose", only 5000 kits of these kits are being produced which is made from a never released ERTL KC-135 kit.
The kit includes resin parts designed and manufactured to ensure greater accuracy. These parts consist of the "doghouse" SATCOM housing atop the fuselage, needed for two of the versions in the kit, and a correction in the fuel dump area. As a special bonus they have expanded the instructions to include a detailed, photo-illustrated section on how to strengthen the inner/outer lower wing panel joint to avoid the "droop" that all KC-135 kits eventually exhibit.
Here's a list of features available on this kit:
- Detailed cockpit and wheel wells.
- Optional TF-33 fan jet engines to make the C-version and J-57s to make the N-version.
- ALOTS pod modification.
- Markings for four different aircraft.
- New resin parts, including the the "doghouse" SATCOM housing.
- Expanded the instructions to include a detailed, photo-illustrated section on how to strengthen the inner/outer lower wing panel joint.
More information on this kit is available at Amtech Models.
