FRROM have released CAD images of their forthcoming 1:72 kit of the SNCASE Mistral - France's version of the de Havilland Vampire.
FR0041 SNCASE Mistral
History:
French fighter, 247 built in France between 1951 and 1953. This was a modification of the Vampire (already license built by SNCASE), with a more powerful Rolls-Royce NENE engine.
The Mistral was impressed into service in 5 èmes, 6 èmes, 7 èmes et 8 èmes "escadres de chasse" from 1952 to 1960. Also put into service in 1960 in the 20 ème escadre, used over Algeria, this aircraft was too fast for the strafing role, and was then replaced by the Skyraider.
Colour Schemes (SE-535) :
⦁ Mistral n°82, 8-PB (box art)
⦁ Mistral n°195, 7-BC
⦁ Mistral n°64, 20-LF "Ouarsenis"
Nota Bene :
⦁ The only external difference between SE-532 and SE-535, nicknamed "Mistral" in Armée de l'Air, stays in the pilot seat. SE-535 got an ejectable seat SNCASO E 86, also retroactively fitted on SE-532 during maintenance operations - so the SE-532 became then SE-535.
⦁ The two seats should be provided in the box, allowing to built alternatively a SE-532 (if you have the corresponding camouflage schemes and documentation). Up to aircraft Nr 97, the Mistral were built as SE-532.
