Aviattic has announced they are taking pre-orders on a 1/32 scale sculpture of Rittmeister Manfred Freiherr von Richthofen
”The Baron, walks to his waiting triplane chatting and joking with his Staffel pilots.
He is using the "Geschwaderstock", which on his death was handed down to Jasta 11's next commander, Hermann Göring.
Over his silk pyjamas he wore a full set of one-piece overalls with his favourite black leather, wool lined jacket over them. Round-lensed goggles and a wool-lined flying helmet, reindeer skin boots over his laced footwear, a white silk scarf at his neck.
We know now that Richthofen was suffering from combat fatigue and the stress of command and his responsibilities weighed heavily on him. However, he maintained the trust and dedication of all these around him and it is that spirit I wanted to capture with this tribute sculpt.
Figure includes two heads, one with cap, one with flying helmet and two hand options. A beautiful "Geschwaderstock" in his right hand.
A postcard of an original Brian Knight painting of the Baron's red Fokker DR.I (from my collection) is offered strictly with the first 100 figures sold.”
Currently at the casters PRE-ORDER NOW FOR DISPATCH MAY 2018.
Price: £18.00
