The F6F wasn't around quite yet (at Midway), but the rest would apply, although I'm not sure the B25 had a large role. There were B17Es involved though, and the B26 was also there I believe, with torpedos slung under the aircraft. But they didn't have much impact, although the B17s did some high level bombing causing the Japanese to do some time-wasting maneuvering. VR, Russ

Agree on most of the above-mentioned Aircraft- Just a few comments in addition to what Russ mentioned. The Japanese fielded their D3A "Val" Model 11 Dive Bomber, A6M2 Type "0" "Zero/Zeke" Fighter, B5N-2 "Kate" Torpedo Bomber, the Type "0" "Pete" Observation Biplane/Seaplane. The 4-Engined "Mavis" Seaplane were noted to have been involved in the very early stages of the "Battle of Midway", I believe flying out of French Frigate Shoals. I don't recall reading anything about the E-13 "Jake" Observation Seaplane having been involved, but I could be in error... On the US side, the US Navy and US Marine Corps fielded the Brewster F2A-2 "Buffalo" Fighter, the TBD-1 "Devastator" Torpedo Bomber, along with the SB2U-3 "Vindicator" Bomber, and the previously-mentioned F4F-3 and-4 "Wildcat" Fighters. The TBF-1 "Avenger" Torpedo Bomber saw limited use. It was a crew flying aboard a PBY "Catalina" Seaplane that first sighted the Japanese forces... F6F "Hellcat" Fighters did not make their combat debut until well into the later stages of the campaign in the Solomon Islands... Concerning the USAAF, I don't recall any B-25s being involved in the battle at all. B-26 "Marauder" Medium Bombers and B-17E "Flying Fortress" Heavy Bombers were definitely there. The B-26s were "jury-rigged" to carry torpedoes in order to launch them at "sea-level" against the Japanese Carrier Force. These, along with the ill-fated TBD-1 "Devastators" of Torpedo-8 were wholly un-successful, despite their heroic attempts to stay the Japanese onslaught. There was only ONE US Navy TBD-1 Aviator who survived the attack against the Japanese Task Force... The B-17s made "harassment" strikes on the Japanese Carriers, but failed to score any "hits". They did however, manage to throw the Japanese Carriers and their Crews into quite a bit of disarray... The real "stars" of the whole battle were the US Navy's SBD-3 "Dauntless" Dive Bombers, which decimated the FOUR Japanese Aircraft Carriers and much of their supporting forces, in effect thwarting any real further Japanese aggression in the Pacific... This is one more book that I'm DEFINITELY going to buy!

I believe that Airfix have the A6M2 Zero covered in 1/72 as well
