Modelling the P-47 Thunderbolt
(Osprey Modelling 11) written by Brett Green...
As I have said before, in news items regarding this series, Osprey are producing an invaluable reference series aimed at modellers, not in the 'theoretical' but in the practical.
Not all of us have access to the enormous quantity of magazine articles written over the years. Many people starting off in aviation modelling will be looking for material like this to take their first steps in such 'black-arts' as weathering, super-detailing or converting.
The P-47 Thunderbolt 'Jug' has always been an attractive subject for modellers and with some of the new kits which have come on to the market in recent years, continues to gain ground in popularity.
This new book, has all the elements to enable both the experienced and novice modeller to build something really special out of the numerous kits available and with the plethora of AM parts and decals available, the sky is really the limit.
This 80 page book contains the following chapter headings and, as can be seen from the photos accompanying this news story, is profusely illustrated.
Introduction
Modelling the P-47 in 1/48 scale
Building a P-47C in 1/48 scale
Tamiya’s P-47D Thunderbolts (1/48 scale)
Academy’s 1/48-scale P-47D as a Thunderbolt Mk.II
'Hot Rod Jug': converting Hasegawa’s 1/48-scale Bubbletop to a P-47M
Pacific heavyweight: ProModeler’s 1/48-scale P-47N
Further reading, media and websites
