Stratus Publishing has just released a new and unexpected publication about Polish Spitfires Mk.IX in the Polish Wings series. The book seems to be really exiting.
Title: Polish Wings No. 13 Supermarine Spitfire IX 1942-1943 Pt.1
Author: Wojtek Matusiak
Ilustrator: Robert Grudzień
ISBN: 978-83-61421-35-1
Number of pages: 96 (48 in colour)
Cover: soft
Format: A4
Publication date: May 2011
Language: english, polish addition
Price: 56PLN

As title says the book is about Spitfires Mk.IX flown by the polish pilots in the Polish Air Forces in Great Britain, RAF or auxiliery units in the 1942-1943 years. It contains the full list of the battle vitories and losses of Spitfire type. You can find about 200 photos and 30 colour profiles inside.

As you can see this is just Pt. 1, so I suppose that Pt. 2 will be focused on 1944-1945 years. As the first modelers in Poland who already have seen this publication says it is really worth buying. It contains many new photos in comparison to the previous books of Wojtek Matusiak. It is printed on the good quality paper. There are some minor mistakes but mostly in the printing or spelling issues, there are not a problem. Most of the pictures are reproduced in a big format, usualy as a half of the page and they are all in a very good quality. These are just first impressions of the buyers about the publication which I have found on the polish modeling forums.

Please remember, when contacting retailers or manufacturers, to mention that you saw their products highlighted here - on AEROSCALE.

I got this book two days ago and I can just confirm all the positive comments. Pictures have a very good quality, showing the details interesting for the modelers in the particular machine. There are usually 3-4 pictures on each page. Some pages are printed on the sepia backgroud which gives an interesting style. Many planes are shown on the detailed side profiles. I don't have to much time for detailed reading so it's just my very first impressions. Generally- well spent money.
