Now for another. How about one called "Merlin's Apprentice" We could all just sign up, Rowan could build something, teach us some stuff along the way, and in the end we could be given a magic wand or something

I'd definately sign up for this one.....almost like an evening class.
Since I'm just getting back into the thick of this again and freshen up,
I need all thelp and tips I can get......tools, paints, air brushes etc...

G'day,

Operation Jericho, sadly I built the 464 RAAF Sqn's FB VI Mosquito as the mount of W.Cdr. Ian Airedale, as part of the RAAF's contract about 15 months ago based on the 48 scale Tamiya offering, as per pic.

We are currently helping a local Decal Manufacturer being involved in several other decal production projects planed which includes 2nd TAF Aircraft.

How about one called "Merlin's Apprentice"...

Cheers Leon and Jan - you're seriously too kind!

As flattering as the idea is - I reckon "Merlin" could well do a turn as an apprentice himself! I could certainly learn a few lessons from you guys on actually finishing such great models on a regular basis! I'm only just learning that particular skill and I have a long way to go to master it! :-)

All the best

Black Cats and Dumbos
Guadacanal

Hi Jan,

These two could be combined to model one of the most audacious attacks of WWII: Major Jack Cram's (USMC) PBY dive-torpedo attack on Japanese transports

And how about DEFENSE OF THE EMPIRE, Japanese Home Defense squadrons and their USAAF / USN / USMC / RNAF attackers 1942-45?

Practically every fighter Imperial Japan ever fielded was used, many in a riot of bold markings. Against them were so many Allied planes...

Maybe a few How To's?...

Hi Jan

Actually, I do have something along those lines in mind... a "Back To Basics" series, covering the fundamentals and avoiding reliance on expensive equipment. It's in the very early stages - but you've encouraged me to get a move on!

Hi again

Another Campaign idea: Blitzkrieg 1939/40. Covering the period from the outbreak of war in Europe through to the Fall of France - so a chance to model aircraft from all the early combatants.

All the best

How about a campaign where you build your OWN aircraft, may it a fighter, torpedo bomber, bomber or whatever? Here you build and paint the aircraft as it would have looked like if you had taken part in WWI, WWII, Korea or Vietnam, or later if you want that. You pick your own camouflage, markings, noseart and so on.....

Here's my idea:

The Vulture Squadron

Remember the cartoon "Dastardly & Mutley in their flying machines"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dastardly_and_Muttley_in_Their_Flying_Machines

If you have seen one or more episodes, you know what I mean..

Lots of scratchbuilding though, but a hoot no doubt

Howdy Fellas

My...a bunch of swell ideas I mustsay!

I very much like the idea of a helo-based Campaign like our good Sabot mentioned, but then, I've supported this idea in the past to 'no joy', so I won't get excited about it now.....

Love the idea of any Campaign that involves a 'Mossie', but then I'm approximately 1800 miles away from my stash, so I'd better pipe down
I also like the idea someone came up with...what was it called?..."Defense of the Empire"? More accurately, the idea of all those unique markings is very tempting indeed.

As I say, some pretty nice ideas.

If I might share an idea of mine that I've been mulling over for some time, and that would be what I have come to call: Aircraft of the 'Other' Heroes.
Meaning, aircraft used by our Coast Guard, Forest Fire Fighters, Police Department and/or 'Flight for Life' Paramedics..........

Any interest in portraying any or all of these "other" Heroes for a change?

Otherwise I'd be interested to see what you gents decide on....since all of the ideas have been just dandy.

Tread.

OH!.......I would like to make a somewaht 'non-official' request of those who are submitting these wonderful Campaign ideas....I think it would really help most of the rest of us to visualize the appeal of the potential Campaign idea if a photograph of a participating aircraft could be submitted along with your suggestion....I don't know about everybody else, but seeing a pic of a file photo of a colourful Japanese aircraft complete with unique markings that participated in 'Defenders of the Empire' would be supremely helpful. I mean, I'd just love to see a picture of the "Blue Goose".......a very impressive assault to be sure.

Kinda like this...........

A modified Be-12P-200 Firefighting Aircraft

A specially re-configured C-130 Hercules Firefighter....

Heck....if you guys still want to build a warplane, but are at least a little tempted to build perhaps a SAR-based aircraft, how about this rather intriguing beastie?

Avro Lancaster MK.10MP maritime patrol aircraft, 107 Rescue Unit, Royal Canadian Air Force

That's right fellas, it is indeed a LANC!
A handful of Lancaster bombers were converted into reconnaisance and Search & Rescue aircraft after the war.....this one served with the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Thx Jan, for stopping by

To show I'm not giving up on this idea so easily....here's a couple more pics to hopefully stoke the Coast Guard fires....

First up, something we've all seen, and something that addresses {maybe{ the helo side of the Campaign.
A Coast Guard Blackhawk, or should I say Seahawk

Next up, is something for those of you who can't decide whether to build a fixed wing or a rotary wing subject matter....

And, for all of you stuck in the 'golden oldies'.....here's one for you...

Just so I don't miss the 'BIG & BEEFY' examples available, here's a very cool aircraft flown by our boys in the Coast Guard

And, for you 'X' Plane aficionados, I haven't forgotten you either!
Here ya go!!

Tell me what ya think......I'll try for some 'other' pics of our 'other' heroes

regards,

Tread.

How about "record breakers" like Charles Lindberg, Amelia Earhart, Howard Hughes and others? For speed, altitude, endurance and so on...

For the brits you could even have the Lancaster:

If it was widened to Search and Rescue and not just Coast Guard units there is plenty more that could be done in this campaign.

Hi Janne!

This one´s for you and all Cat-lovers!

Monogram PBY-5A Catalina in 1/48.
Built OOB a couple of years ago, very nice kit (kitty?).

But remember to put a LOT of weight in the nose, i had well over 100g and she still sits on her tail if allowed!

Cheers!
