Greetings all,

Just repairing some broken links and images. Here is the WNW Junkers J.I kit moldified to a one off prototype for Close Air Support with some Air Master Brass.

After going through some boxes of old PE sets, I finally found my 1/32 Tom's MW German Machine Gun fret. To my dismay, the jackets do not fit the Wingnut Wings Parabellum. The jackets are shorter than the barrel. Obi-wan, what shall we do?

You may have to do one of two things my Padewan.
A, Butt the fretted jacket against the round retainer plate on the breech surrounding the kit barrel. The plate can be any thickness you need to make up the difference.

B. Add thickness to the breech plate and the end cap by using slices of the plastic originals and have then fit slightly inside the fretted jacket for additional support.

But never use the force, as it crumples brass bits.

Here is a bit of a build up and a comparison.

The image below depicts the "shortages" that Mark mentioned in 1:32. I built the bottom 14/17 straight stock from the fret.

The top item is WNW a breech with a Tom's 14 fretted jacket.

I gave is some colour with Gunmetal & wood then stained the gun metal with a black wash. The result is pleasing and I only had to add the cocking bolt. Notably the over all length is shorter than a WNW item.

1984 IPMS Goodie bag item. Early PE Spandau Maxims in 1:48 by Burl Burlingame. Burl is also an Aeroscale member and resides in Hawaii.

Here are the instructions that came with it.

Here are some shots of the tom's Modelworks instructions and brass from their Albatros Fighter sets. These are available in several scales.

Here is the reverse side. Note the reference to the Jasta documentation service is out of date and the proprieter was the late Aeroscale member Dan San Abbott.
