It is the Wingz 1/32 WGZ0023 P-51D Mustang Aircraft Cockpit Update Set. A whole lot nicer than the kit pit.

Looking good Carl.
Tony can't wait to see you defeat that kit. At least the scale calcuations will be easy
Those gaps look like they'd be better filled with card than putty.
Here is my update. Finished half the rigging. More pics on the build log
Once the rigging is finished just tidying up do.

JP: Looked in your blog, and it's coming out nicely. Everytime I see a halfrigged biplane I think "I can do that" and everytime I look in my Gladiator box I think "not a chance".
I will start fighting the RE 2000 tonight I guess, with sanding wing rivets. I took your advice and got myself some plasticard too. It seems safer that way.

Tony, I have avoided the Gladiator for just the same reasons. I am pretty scared of too much rigging
I have made a little progress on my Skyhawk. The white undersurfaces are painted although it might be difficult to see due to the amount of masking tape
The light grey top coat is applied. Next will be the detail painting and then the decals.
More to follow....

Jesper: Makes me glad I don't own an airbrush. It must save me a fortune in tamiya tape.
Thanks for encouragement on the rigging. I'd never rigged anything before other than 1:1 sailboats
I followed an hyperscale.com article. And got some advice from Cazzie
So far so good, hopefully the holes in the top wing will fill and touch up OK. Drilling the 70 odd holes was the worst part
but using such tiny drill bits makes one feel like a giant. A pretty clumsy one though

Should I do a separate build log in another forum or do we post pictures here?

JP, yeah the time saved by airbrushing instead of paint brushing is used on masking the camouflage scheme
Welcome onboard, Mark. You can start a build log if you plan to share every step of you build with us.
If you only make a few updates you can use this tread. It is up to you

Work has progressed very well on my Skyhawk.
However, I have now hit a major problem. The decals will not leave the backing paper. I have tried both with normal water and micro sol. Nothing works. If I use force they crumble in very very small particles. Almost like dust.
I have checked out the AM decal sets available on the net, but I have not found any suitable sets. I will try to find a set at my LHS in Denmark or maybe buy an extra skyhawk kit if it has at least two complete set of decals. That is cheaper than buying a decal set that costs more than the kit.
If anybody has some extra US decals in 1/48 for a A-4E/F Skyhawk I am very interested to buy/swap them.....

Here is my progress. . .
I just finished two other campaign builds, and a week long vacation. I am back on track to be working on this now.
Go Carl go! She is a fine build. Model On!

Thanks for the comments, Stephen. I appreciate it.
I am a little stalled now due to the lack of decals. I am considering to wait for Italeri to release their A-4 E/F Skyhawk. It is probably a reboxing of the old ESCI kit which was not that bad although not up to todays standards. Would probably be fine with new underwing stores.
I am sure Italeri will include more than one set of decals in the kit. Probably both US and Israeli markings. Hopefully that will leave two complete sets of decals allowing me to finish both aircrafts - for a very reasonable price.

You all are doing great work. I am personally falling behind a bit. My wife had neck surgery on Tuesday, so I wont be around much until after the weekend. But do keep the great pictures coming.

I'm afraid I'll have to resign this campaign. I have looked hard a few times on the Reggiane, but it feels like a too big bite to chew at the moment. Summer holidays are sneaking in, I got 2 campaigns running allready and frankly, I need more experience to tackle it right now. Sorry 'bout this, and good look to y'all!

No worries Tony!
Life gets in the way of modeling sometimes. We will be here if things lighten up for you. Drop in from time to time if you can.
Regards Stephen
Our number is thirteen with Tony's withdrawl. Maybe we should have a black cat as an arm patch?

I have stalled temporarilly, but I will finish. I still think this is a great campaign, and I am suprised there are not more participants. But I must point out a lot of us are involved in numerous campaigns.

Well, the 13 participants has not meant bad luck to me - yet
As you might remember the kits decals went bust when put in water so I was left without decals for my build. To find a solution, I went to the LHS and found Hasegawa's 1/48 A4 Skyhawk E/F with Marine decals. Actually VMA-211 decals that fits the same camouflage scheme, so I do not need to paint anything on the model. Very nice as I would like to avoid repainting after adding the gloss coat for the decals.
To ensure I had stencilling and national markings for both my current model and the Hasegawa model I had to buy another set of AM decals for the Hasegawa kit. They turned out to be on sale at half price.
So far it has been a good and lucky solution to the missing decals. I am away from the build right now, but will start applying the decals as soon as I get my hands on it again

One down then and twelve to go. Black cat under a ladder
Here is my finished strutter. It's been a fun build. I'll need to brush up on my freehand painting and drawing but with a toddler wanting pictures of monkeys, fish, and elephants drawn all the time I'm sure I'll improve.
More pics on my flickr stream or the build log.
I'll go do my homework on the back story now
See y'all in the battle for europe, with my olde airfix spitfire mk1a

Hello all,
This is my first campaign. Here's part of my build. I'm not doing a total step by step but there are a few pics I'd like to share with you.
Here's the kit: 1/48 Eduard Hanriot HD.2 Floatplane. I'm going to build it out of the box............
Here's the cockpit with stringers and control lines added with fishing line.........
Instruments................
You can't see very much when it's closed up..............
I'll post more later.

I had the airbrush fired up this morning, working on the BFE Campaign, when I discovered I was missing the colors I needed. So I mixed up the blue, and then the black for this campaign.
Now I need to print up some decals, and then spend a day with a bowl of water in front of me. The real Joltin Josie is pleased.
