Great progress Daniel ...as was mentioned before, the detail that the P.E. parts brought to the wheel well was impressive (worth the time and effort that was put in). Can't wait for further updates!

Hi Chuck ,

Thanks for your comments. Yes, those details give a better and real view to the model. It takes a lot of work but I like to add this type of details to the models

Yes I meant these.

... I sanded one before completing the wings on my kit but had to fiddly remove it in the other (not a real problem though). Measure twice cut once .. often run in those things myself

Hmm, seems am always complaining ... I know you are a very good modeller so I do not comment on your nice progress but only on some possible problems. In the end I just do not want you to make such a beautiful model and have it ruined by basic things ...

all the best

Hi Steffen,

I consider you a very good modeller. I think we are here to show what we know, but also, and more important to continuing learning, so any comments are welcome. I have in mind all of yours

Hi Daniel

very nice progress .. see I can say something positive before I grump

I just want to remind you, that you will have to restore the panel line between the fuselage halfs. the half shells overlap and make up a panel line on top and bottom aft of the cockpit, which should be a bit off center (forgot to which side) ... On my model I just used the kit panel line and engraved it with the TriTool "modelling scriber saw" (Hasegawa), which gives a cleaner line that scribing. Of course this is not like it looks in reality, but today it is en vogue to simulate it with engraved lines.

all the best

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for the advice on the trumpeter rivet tool.

The 109 is coming along nicely, can't wait to see it finished,

Mike.

Really impressive progress you have going on there!
I was already about to mention the fuselage seam but Steffen got it first. Seems like you learn something new everyday, I wasn't aware the seam was off-center on the real thing.
Even though it's a bit inaccurate then, I prefer doing the seam by scraping the edges of the fuselage halves at about 45 decree angle prior to gluing them together to avoid any tricky, error-prone scribing later.

Hi Steffen and Eetu,

Thanks for your comments, it help me to improve my technics.

Perhaps it´s late for this model because I had joint it, but to have in mind for the next.

But let see if I understand what you mean. I know that the real planes are make with panels, each side of this panels are put up on others panels side and then they make the rivet. So this generate an unevenness between the panels, but I think it´s practically impossible to obtain this effect in a model kit, so I think I´m not understanding what you mean

Hi Daniel

well, the rear fuselage is made up of these

These were made of two halfs, which meet at the top and the bottom. There they form a panel line which starts behind the pit and goes right to the rudder (analogue on the underside). The Bf 109 not only won the fighter competition becaus Willi was a brave Nazi but also because the 109 was easier and faster, read cheaper to produce than the He 100 ...

I remember that Lynn Ritger once posted some pix which clearly show this panel line, but I cannot find it now. Just have a look at some drawings ...

This is an F (but it is the same on the E) and was taken from 109 Lair and reworked to show my point

hope this makes things clearer

cheers

Steffen

I had also masked the cockpit glass. For this I used the Eduard mask that come with the Big Ed,

When the paint was dry I had masked the plane, for this I used tamiya mask and Uhu-Tac
