Hi Steffen , the mauve I use is from the Polly Scale line call German mauve . ( Lilic ) is very close . Another one I use as well is Napoleonic violet from Testors Model Master ( oil base )
Don't care for oils much , but none of the hobby shope here carry Polly Scale any more .
For the Olive green either Tamiya will work but I find it to dark . Polly Scale Ger RLM 6 / DK OL GR .
RLM 71 will work for the olive green , just needs to be a tad on the green side . It's to drab in shade so if you can get around that you have it made .
As for the pattern it's Mauve /green/ Mauve .on the top wing and same for the bottom .

Thank you Terri!
i just visited the local GW shop and I found a colour that I like .. it is very "plummy" and called "Hormagaunt Purple" .. whatever that means. I think Gunzes RLM 71 is good (considering a good amount of scale effect) if I don't like it, I will add some OD ...

How is this project coming a long Steffen ?
Posted: Wednesday, October 14, 2009 - 03:08 AM UTC
Not at all, Terri, but thanks for asking.
i am stuck in 2 projects (actually 3, but not counting to wait for that darn NeOmega replacement part for months since I can do nothing about it) .
You cannot imaging how deeply I hate rigging and this project does not make it easier. And as the other project is stuck too I can't gain no motivation/distraction from that one. I really hope the coming weekend will bring a bit of motivation (visiting a model show). Else I will just shelve these projects and move on ...

Hmm, time runs by
as my Oeffag project works quite well I decided to do some more bits on this crate. Still need to buy new resin for the wheels, but I reshot some paint today. Now it is black and white again:
These are the wheels from the kit and clearly on the small side.
cheers

I had a little fun today. Everything worked out ... which is really rare in my projects
Still a lot of small parts to add and of course touching up/painting upper and lower wing after clean-up and not to forget the decals. The wheels are from the Revell recent rebox of the Eduard kit. Mine has quite an off set in the tool and thus I am not sure I will build... if I can still make new ones

Great to see you back on this project Steffen . You did a very nice job on the rigging to boot !

Here is another pic. I have added one of the radiator pipes and some decals. I am not sure if I should add the outer rigging wires and where they lead on the upper wing (despite the nice hint to the Wingnut D.V instructions)...

I also like it a lot despite this old Eduard issue might have a few more accuracy issues ... not to mention it is short run. I have added the two outboard wires yesterday and also a few PE parts and the 2nd cooler pipe. Then I cleaned up the lower wing underside and painted it lt. blue (no pic as I did not apply the decals yet). I forgot to post a pic of the upper wing yesterday, so here it is...
Still some PE and plastic parts to add, especially wiring of the control surfaces and I have no idea how to paint the wheels disks. What would be the factory colour? (it does not look white on the picture in Osprey Albatros aces pt.1)

Hi Steffen
– The wheeldics left the factory with a grey green hue. If you're using Tamiya colours – WNW defines it as XF 76... Thogh I have seen it done a bit greener and darker than this too...
Hope this helps
(If you go to WNW, then you can see all colour refs. in the instructions online).

I have added the last decals and the PE today. The only thing left are the 4 wires at the elevator. I will probably use stretched sprue for that.

Ahhhh... What a nice prop! Really looks like a natural wood.

Thanks Terri and Arseny!
I will take more pix when it is fully done. Hopefully I'll get a flat coat on this evening and then I only have to add the control cables. The Oeffag is not as advanced, but also close to the finish.
Arseny: so the prop is the best thing of the kit? ...

Hi Steffan:
Your model really turned out nice. I had this kit at one time, but sold it on eBay; I just didn't want to fiddle with it. You did a good job on it. Thanks for sharing the photo's.
Best
Mark

Yes the cockpit is definitely substandard (but this is at least ten years old!) but I am quite happy about the lengthend u/c and the larger wheels .. though I could not use my copies but had to use the wheels from the Revell re-issue of Eduards kit. The u/c legs might be a tad long now, but I still like the look ...

O.k. a last WIP picture today, because there will be no further progress. I added the windshield and the cables and call it now done ... finally.
I'll visit Marc Toillie today and thus I (i.e. he) can maybe take some good outside shots of the model. If not I will do my usual "10-pic walk around" tomorrow or on the weekend (depending on weather conditions)
Thanks again and a lot for the encouragement and help!!!! Hope I did not get it all wrong (I have seen several layouts and colours for the wing camo) ... well at least I am happy
