Edo: Your model is really coming along nicely. Don't worry about the rigging being to difficult, just look at it, and figure out different runs for the line and go for it. Eventually it will be done and will look fine. I am going to use your technique for the wicker seat in 1/32nd and 1/48, when I do it.

Hi all!
Thank you Tuomas and Terri. I'll try what you suggest.
I applied some decals in these days, but I am not completely satisfied. I'll post some pics and we'll talk about it later.
Thank you Mark, you make me very proud! I found on the net a tutorial on rigging DH2 which is very exaustive, Stephen has a link for it here. http://aeroscale.kitmaker.net/forums/145540&page=1

Hi Edoardo
Nice build so far, I particularly like your prop and the preshading. What colour did you use for the preshade? I am working on a Camel and I particularly like the look of the linen finish under the wings. That seat definitly beats the look of the block of plastic seat supplied, however I only paid about £2.50 for the PE set for the Weekend Camel and it includes the wicker seat parts.

Hi Andrew!
Thank you for the kind worlds!
For the preshade I used flat black, but in the future I think that a darker shade of the base color should be better. In fact I find that black is too dark, thus being difficult to control. A lighter tone, and more similar to the base tone should be simpler to modulate.
Now I will post some new update.
Firt the problem I encountered with the decals. The picture is, again, not of the best quality, but nevertheless you should be able to see the support film on the hedges of the cockarde. Under natural light it is quite visible whitish, I'd say... do you know a way to get rid of it?
Next is an image of the tail which has been connected with the "brooms". To tell the truth I thought it were harder to put this togheter, while insted, it went togheter quite easily.
Lastly I'll add some picture of the fusolage and the wings. This are almost completely rigged, and I'll add some detail of it as well.
(some wireing is not properly trimmed... I'll take care of that soon!)
This is it for now...
ciao

Hi Edoardo
Tried the pre-shading last night on the Camel but I used Tamiya Dark Gray instead of Black. My first impression is that this is about right, both above and below the wing. The shading is visible but not obvious

Looking very nice! Maybe you could try to paint the area around the cockards with the upper wings colour?

I use a fresh #11 blade and score around the cockade and flick off the clear carrier or apply a little solvaset, works for me.
Good Luck

Hi Edo ! very nice progress so far . Rigging looks good same with the weathering .
For the preshading I mix black and brown paint and then the top clear is applied in light coats with some a little more in different areas to break up the effect more .

Hi all!
It has been a while since my last post so, even if late, happy new year! I hope the old one ended well and you all had a good time during the hollidays with your family and friends!
As far as I am concerned, all went well: I took some days off work and enjoied my kids... I also found some time to complete the DH2, so here I am with some pics.
Some more pics will follow soon
ciao

Outstanding Edo:
I especially like your work with the seat; but the rest of the work is top notch as well. Your preshading has depth, just a great piece of work.
Cheers

Fantastic work Edo, I am becoming more interested in this era of flying and thanks to you Terri [the girl] and Stephen [JackFlash] I have been inspired to order Roden's 1:32 Albatros D.III and Rodens 1:72 Felixstowe F2A flying boat. I have been building a Matchbox 1:32 DH 82 tigermoth, which has been so far a hugely enjoyable build. It is now coming up to paint time so the rigging will be going in soon. I am really looking forward to tackling it.

Thank you all for the nice worlds!
I took some more pics and during the week-end I'll post them on the site.
RAGIII, for the turnbuckles I use what I call the "Terri method": a loophole made from fine copper wire glued in a pre drilled hole on the wings of fusolage, ecc. ecc. The brooms are too thin to be drilled out so I prepared a very small loophole (just a couple of twist of the copper wire) with a long 'tail'. Then the tail has been then twisted around the broom.
Now, since the wire is thin you can hardly see it on the side of the broom and since there is another loophole on the other side, also the end of the tail is barely visible.
I'll try to take some detail pics to show you better what I say.
TIM: what an honour! You are too kind.... have you some pictures of your work? I'd really be interested in seeing them!
Ciao

Really outstanding Edo! I particularly love the wood grain on the struts, and the awesome rigging. The DH2 is the best looking WWI aircraft for my eyes. If I ever feel brave enough, I'll try and track down a 1/72 Eduard one....

Great photos as well as a great build edo. The close ups of the rigging on the booms is really helpfull. Your attention to detail is outstanding, such as the four plates holding the upper wing to the centre of the upper wing. I think you should enter it for the model of the month. Brilliant work.

Hi all!
It is a real pleasure to share with you, and a real honour to receive such positive feedback from a such a talented audience!
Des, thank you very much Sir, I am not nearly half as good as you and your comment is very appreciated.
In my build there are a lot of fowls, but I do enjoy myself and I hope to keep on learning. And this is all to the credit of this fantastic community.
Again, thank you all for looking!
