No sirski, only the Stuka with skis.....not the stuka with skis and a P-40 what-ifski with skis. Way too many campaignskis to be building two kitskis at the same timeski for one campaignski. To ski or not to ski, I shall ski only in a Stuka with skis.

So I thought it would be a good idea if I read about the campaign 7 months in advance since I'm so overcommited. Then I saw one of the most wickedly beautiful aircraft ever to take flight... on skids. In my worthless opinion, they ought to find the guy who had the bright idea of mounting skis?! on a P-38 and taxi over him, war necessity or not. I bet if they would have shown those pictures to the Germans or Japanese they would have said "OK, enough! Promise to never, ever do that again and we'll quit right now. There are some aircraft that look right with 'em, and then there's that monstrosity. Anyway, I already have 2 with skis in my horde (both still factory wrapped). I was Il'in until I decided to Yak and it made me feel better.

Tim, superb choice, that's a great looking project !!
Oh no, I've just realised I missed my regular 3-weekly BUMP, and BY A WHOLE WEEK !!!
That means I will have to say something silly to attract more attention to my campaign.
Ok, how about this. A Sikor-SKI !!!
I might even have to find a 1/72 kit and have a go at that one myself.
Snow bunnies sign here please

Hi again, 10 minutes later Just browsing and I found a great pic to help me with my main build for this Campaign . . .
Now, a question for those more worldly and knowledgable than I. Are the main ski gear supports fixed at the normal landing gear attachment points, or (I think) attached at the bomb/drop tank pylon point ?

Bump time, another month gone by and it's the middle of ski season here right now. I bet that sounds strange to you Northern Hemisphere dwellers.
3 months until the gates drop on this campaign, so SIGN UP HERE to get your lift tickets and ski hire.

I have a couple of Russian ski-planes so to speak that I've been looking for an excuse to build. I'll let you all know which one I'm going to build as soon as I make up my mind.

BUMP TIME GUYS !! We have less than 1 month to go in the lead-up.
There's still about 1 metre of man-made snow on Mt Buller which is unusual for this time of year, and it's starting to melt rapidly, but the lake is coming up over the grass beds so the fishing will improve nicely.
But I digress, enlist HERE if you haven't already, and join us in the snow patrol !!
Cheers, D

Hi'ya D. If I can ever get back to the bench I'm planning to build a Stuka with skis that I picked up on ebay especially for this campaign. It'll replace the one destroyed in my display cabinet mishap.

I intend to build either the 1/48 Accurate Miniatures Yak-3 or IL-2, they are both pretty sweet kits but I need to focus on one for the campaign due to time restraints of the other campaigns going on here and in Armorama
BTW, I can see the gear doors closed on that P-47, so those skis have to be mounted to the hard points.

I'm going to build the 1/48 Special Hobby Polikarpov I-152 with skis (kit 48060). In addition to styrene it has resin, PE and white metal which is not a problem - the fact that it is a biplane with rigging gives me nightmares though. We'll see how it goes.
Thanks,
Karl

Man oh man there are a few starting up this month I am in the Italian, anti ship and now this. With school and all do not know where I will find the time. Might just do an IL-2 or a Ju 52 on skis. Depends on who dose what, do not want to duplicate things here. Already have the 87 on skis on the shelf.

Hi all. Late to the party again, but I did sign up and plan on doing a Hasegawa 1/72 Polikarprov I-16 on ski's. I'm at work, so sorry, don't have a photo of the kit, but will get one up ASAP.
Cheers,
Mike
