the tube in the bottom left? Its Squadron Signal Green Putty. I prefer the white as its easier to sand, but the green is harder & takes longer to dry, but when left to dry sticks better when working it.

IIRC the white putty tube is a pinkish red

I cant catch a break with this kit, revell seemed to think its OK to ship kits with warped wings! Gee thanks....
The port wing has a nice wave along the te at the aileron, should be fun to fix while the starboard wing is straight and true.
I sat down and added the "vanes" to the oil cooler inlet last night, turned out better then I thought.
I started looking at the landing gear last night..lets just say I should have done a crash diorama with them sheared off.
For fun I fit the wings to the fuse, shes a BIG bird!

ok, this build has stalled out at the engine nacelles. The amount of re-work required is bumming me out.
Im taking a break to do Terri's Me-109 campaign

I WILL BE BACK!

Shawn, Take all the time you need brother. If you don't, well, it may crash land . Heck, Iv'e got a dio that's been worked on and off for what, 13 years. It grows, it shrinks, I throw, it grows, it never ends. One of these days. Problem is, I keep learning and seeing new things on armorama and am never satisfied with it and am continuely redoing things.

thanks Bob, I've never taken a break from a build before so this is new territory for me.
I figure a few off topic builds and some fresh plastic could be good for it in the long run...or at least good for my patience.
Plus we're going to move this summer and its easier to move this giant in a box vs. built.

some times you just get "signs" that a build must be completed.
I recently traded some photo shop work for:
4 mg17 brass barrel kits
1 mg15 brass barrel kit
AND
a set of Radu's belts!

This bird just got some new bling!

received my brass barrels and Radu's belt set yesterday.

WOW

If you're building a german bird, get Radu's belt set. The etching is meticulous on the little bits.

Cant say enough about the barrels wither, great jacket detail and the perfect conical tip for the Mg17s!!!

2.5 more builds before I get back to the beast!

Hey gang, bringing this back from the dead.

After taking some time off from this build Im thinking about scrapping it and building one of the FAR better Dragon kits.

Am I dumb to scrap my work up to this point?

The work Im facing to finish this beast is daunting at best.

I'd love some opinions.

I wouldn't hold it against you. I wanted to build one myself but this thread has changed my mind. And for that I thank you.

I cant even say its a good kit OOB.
We'll see how I feel after my Corsair (also an old revell) and my mustang after that.

Still seeking more advice

Keep going Shawn. Just think of the satisfaction when you are done from taking an old horble relic and turning out a nice piece.

Keep going Shawn!! If you are bummed out over the stuff needed for a plane on the ground why not a flying one? All nacelles and undercarriage bits out of site. Or, that crash one you wanted to do.. except make it a wheels up landing.. All you need is to bend a few props if it landed on a smooth grass field. Every successful landing you make with your wheels down just puts you closer to the one with your wheels up.. Old pilot saying.. I must be getting real close!!

lol Warren, great saying.

I think that may be the solution as well. I've put in to much time on the engine to seal it off and a wee bit 'o' destruction to the bird may be exactly what I need...time to hit the books again and see what ref. shots I have...

I think this it guys, crash diorama....my wife's gonna hate this idea....means I lurv it!

Bob, you make an excellent point.
If it were always easy what would be the fun?
Thank you for the reminder.

As an aside, here is where I am on my current build, another classic revell kit:

Still here, haven't touched the '110 yet.

Finished another one though!

And working a new build now that can be seen in the Rotors section here.

Im going to pick up the 110 after my AH1W is done.....Its time to descend back into the madness.

lol, all she needs is some love.
Those pacific birds really got beat up when flying from the crushed coral.
