You are a busy man Gregory. I just re-scoped out your "Frankenwing" project, and this. I am duly impressed with the level of craftsmanship. Looking good.

Great progress Gregory, you are doing this one fast – and really good looking too! I have never tried a Vacuform – very interesting to see one built.

Hello All,
A small update today,to small to post photos for now. The upper wing is now completed with the flaps cut free and pinned.I'll just the afternoon I've the lower right hand side wing ready for assembly. The lower wing in total is made up of four pieces,so lots of fitting to do before any gluing can be done. Lining up four piece is proving to be a royal pain too. I've also been working on the fuselage exterior details as well.Little stuff really like foot holds, coaming around the cockpit and the lacing on the one side of the fuselage. Not that terribly far from the first priming stage now.More to follow later and thanks for looking.
Regards,
Gregory Jouette

Hello All,
Here a few more in progress photos for you. First up the four piece lower wing, still incomplete.
Both the upper and lower wing. At this point I'm debating on how best to replace the ribtape details lost during the thinning of the wing, Since I don't care for using thin plastic strips I'll most likely go with packing tape strips sealed with Future and then a coat of primer.I'm open to suggestions if you know a better way.
I've also added a few more details to the fuselage. But still more to add on like the stitching along the right hand side.
That's all for now,as always your comments and tips are much appreciated.
Regards,
Gregory Jouette

Whats with the Canadian money?
When we had our restaurant, we got a Canadian quarter in change. I gave it out as change and it kept coming back. The quarter hit our cash drawyer 18 days in a row. No matter who I gave it to. Then one of our worker bees saw it and said "Can I have that?" I finally got rid of it. We were laughing about it coming back every day. Funny, the things we find to laugh at. But that has nothing to do with this fantastic build.
I have seen some Vacuform kits, and never had the desire to build one. I look at it and try to figure out how to make it work, and my head hurts. As far as I am concerned, anybody that can make anything decent out of these is a master of the art. I congratulate you on your fine build. But get rid of the foreign change, if you can.

Carl,
Great story about the Canadian Quarter.Years ago when my family lived in Canada each time we returned to the Old Country my brother and I had a blast passing off our foreign coins everywhere we could.Funny thing though most people never noticed. If you had owned your restaurant back in the early 70's you may well have been one of our victims.
Thanks for your more than kind words my friend. You should give a vacuform kit a try someday.Once your passed the sanding it's not much different than a short run kit.

Terri,
To tell you the truth I'd planed on on using Strutz for this project. But I'm in the process of making the struts for my Fokker E.V using Strutz and not liking it much at all.My blister have blister now. They look OK I guess but such a pain to make. For the 1 1/2 Strutter I may revert to the old Contrail Strut Material.

Afternoon All,
Haven't had much model time of late due to Family matters and a really awful work schedule. Most of what I've been working are small details like the struts, more struts and the engine.Too small to bore you with photos of .
However I've spent most of the day laying out the internal wing structure as part of the preshading process.I used dark brown artist pen for this task.Something new for me as I've not gone for the extra detail, instead I've just highlighted the rib tapes with washes or pastels.
That's all for now,got to get back to the bench and work on the Lewis gun and mount. As alway any and all comments are welcomed and appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Gregory Jouette

Very excellent job on the drawing the frame work Really looking forward to see the effect of this once the finish has been applied . I should have used a brown marker when I did the BE2 , might have had better results .

Morning All,
I have another update for you today.I've gotten all the basic painting done now. This as I said earlier is first time I've included the internal structures drawn out.Using a 50/50 mixture of paint to thinner and multiple coats of Mrkits paints the structure still shows through.I'm more than happy with the results. Now on to the photos, first up the wings.
More to follow.............

And now for the fuselage.
Well Gang that's all for now.I hope to get a least the fuselage decaled today and get her up on her legs.Maybe get the lower wings mounted too. It's highly doubtful whether I finish by the deadline, but I'll surely try my best.As always any and all comments are welcomed and much appreciated.

PS: Mark no pressure applied in your last post LOL

Like your pen highlighting idea. I may try steal it for preshading panel lines on my next plane.

Mark,
Please don't steal my highlighting ideal,it's patented by me.Sure why not no one else had. LOL just kidding feel free to gather whatever tips you wish.Be sure to use Artist pens not a Sharpie.I had to repaint another project a couple years ago because of bleeding and smearing. For the Strutter I used Pitt Sepia Artist pens,I idea I barrowed from Mark Krumrey AKA Mgunns.Worked great too.

Hi Gregory!
It sure looks good! I too am experimenting with the Maguuns method on painting with artistic pen, but I find that it doesn't dry properly... does a coat of Future seal it anyway?
Another question: it seems to me that, after painting the CDL, the ribs are higlited, while the sepia tone is quite dark before the CDL is applied... how's that possible?
thank you
Ciao

Edo,
I sealed my drawings done with Artist Pens with several misted coats of Future, which seems to work just fine.I have not had any problems with not fully drying. But I did notice that when doing the prop for my Fokker E.V project the pens did run and smear slightly. The Future was brushed on the prop to seal the prop.Did not really mess things up but I believe it's best to mist a coat of Future (multiple coats)with an airbrush rather than brushing it on.
There is no highlighting done to the wings or fuselage.I simply over painted the drawn in structures with CDL.My paint was very thin at 50/50 ratio. What you can see are the results after several coats.I hope this answers your question my friend.

Gregory Jouette

Sure did,I used a steel ruler with the cork backing to keep the ink from pooling between the the ruler and wing.
