Thanks for posting the link Tim, now I'm enlisted and off in search of a Typhoon or Tempest.

Grand, well spotted Tim. Anyone fancy drawing some banners and/or a ribbon to drum up support?

Hi all. I had time for a quick smash-and-grab at the LHS today and dashed away with this gem . . . .
I just couldn't resist getting out the Camm-era when I got home. The sprues look really nice, fine recessed panel lines and no flash at all. Anybody else ever noticed the resemblance to a Basking Shark, or is it jut my other obsession taking hold ??
Now the waiting begins.

JP, I am up for a Sydney campaign and unlike some who rushed out to spend their dollars I dug into my stash, and I mean that I DUG and came out with this.
To me the Hurricane had about the same career similarities as the P-40. Underated and did much more than given credit for.
You are correct D. I had always thought that about the Phoon.
Bob

Hehehe, that kit looks like it might be older than ME Bob , so you have obviously had a few years more to build up a stash. My meager little pile of goodies doesn't take long to dig through at all !!

I like the large image with Sir. Sidney & it's creations on it
But in the 2 smaller pictures I prefer the Hurricane, the symbol of battle of Britain
Cheers Nick

Ben, you are a legend. That banner is amazing. Really eyecatching. I'm putting it on profile if that's OK.
I agree with Nick about the hurricane but I wonder what Sir Sydney's face would look like on the ribbon, too small perhaps.

No, I mean I like the banner with Sir Sydney's face, I didn't say that I like to see it on the smaller pictures

Glad you like it J-P.
Yes, it is a very, very small space to design for! Even a simple aircraft profile is confusing when reduced to only 20 pixels high.
Here are a few more:

I like most the 1st picture because of the nice "English flag" font and the very easy to understand Hurricane canopy
Everyone can understand that canopy, it's so familiar
Cheers Nick

OK, we should be in action now. I was number 11 to enlist.
I like the ribbon with the Harrier and the UK flag.
I do not understand the rules all to clear, but also I have not started researching his work yet. Anything called Hawker from 1912 to the Harrier is good for the campaign?

Great to have you with us Jesper.
Here is a good jumping off point.
http://www.thamesweb.co.uk/windsorpeople/SirSydneyCamm.html
He made a glider as a youth in 1912
Worked for Martinsyde from 1914 to 1923 and joined Hawker in 1923.
I think the Cygnet was his 1st Hawker design. Became chief designer in 1925.
Almost everything Hawker did in the late 20s onwards has his stamp on it.
The Harrier was his last work although he died before it was completed. I'll allow any Harrier to make it easy.
If it is a Martinsyde or early Hawker (23-25) plane post on the thread what input Camm had in it.
The idea is to illustrate the time period he worked in and the influence he had on it.

Great link, JP. There are really some oldies and goodies among them.
Now of to find some Hart, Fury, Nimrod planes.... Otherwise there is always the Hurricane or the Harrier as a back up.

Brilliant, shall we make it a year long one then?
Don't worry Nige you'll have earned a ribbon for that beast no matter how long it takes!

Thanks Jaypee.
At the speed I build its good to know I have an extension in advance, especially as I'll be doing a 1:32 Tamiya MK IX for the Spitfire campaign as well!

I shall be in with either:
1/72 Typhoon or Hunter
OR
1/48 Typhoon or Hunter
Hmm my two favourite aircraft
(would have done both but already signed up to do 2 kits for Zerstora and a kit for Tomcat Campaign which both start same time as this and finish roughly the same time)

Any Harrier you say? Lets see I have a GR3, GR7, Sea Harrier FA2 (*2) sitting in my stash - I guess they'd be just fine for this. Or rolling back the years I also have a Sea Hawk and Hurricane MkI. Too bad my Hurricane IIB, IIC, Typhoon, Tempest, Sea Fury amd Hunter are already done!
thanks
Mike
thanks
