Andrew would a picture of a painting be sufficient. I wanted to build Johann "Macky" Steinhoff's Bf 109E3 (JG 52 white 1) but have been unable to find a photo.
Thanks

I'm thinking of doing a Battle of Britain Stuka. I have the Revell release of the Hasegawa 1/48 scale kit and SuperScale sheet 48-833. The kit decals are for:
a snake marking from 6./St.G. 2 in Libya, June 1941 (T6+CP, no unit badge)
Stab. III/St.G.77 at Argos/Greichenland in May 1941 (F1+BC, horsed knight on a yellow field with a jagged blue top the to the field).
The SuperScale sheet has markings for what it says are:
Ju 87B-1 from 7./St.G. 51 in France, Sept. 1939 6G+AC (large shooting star)
Ju 87B-2 from 4./St.G.3 1940 T6+EM with a white fuselage band under the national insignia and a green four leaf clover on a white field
Ju87B-1 of 8./St.G.51 France, 1940 G6+FS red stylized bird on a white sheild
Something doesn't seem right with the SS sheet. That first one in France in Sept. 1939? Date doesn't seem to line up. The next one (4./St.G.3) seems like what I'm looking for, but I didn't think the Lufwaffe used fuselage bands in the summer of 1940.
I know SuperScale has some accuracy issues, especially with their descriptions (the profile drawings are all B-2s, for instance). Can anyone tell me if I can do a BoB aircraft given the various decals I have and, if so, what it should use and look like?
I posted this over on the WWII Forum too, but it seems logical to post it here as well.
Thanks!!
Michael

Sorry, gents I have had a major intrusion of real life (no nothing too bad, it just needed, and still needs time). Hopefully
I should be back a bit more often now.
Firstly, Warren that 109 looks good, I haven't yet tried mottling and less is better than too much.
Paul, the Hurri is about a million times better than the Airfix effort I started.
Frederick, I love the Dewoitine definitly the best looking French aircraft of the period, pity the handling was not so good
Michael I'm happy to have a Stuka, but I am no expert on Luftwaffe markings.
My own Hurri has turned out a dog with just about everything gone wrong (paint colours, decals, kit quality, repainting after the first set of decals was destroyed. I now have no photos of the No 85(F) Sqn aircraft in France April/May 1940. Back up plan is a Tamiya Spit currently residing under my desk

Looks very nice and a lot better than I remember an Airfix 109 to be, though I think that was a Gustav. Von Werra was an interesting character, sent to prisoner of war camp he attempted to escape by stealing a Hurricane from the Rolls Royce experimental station at Hucknall. He was returned to captivity, then sent to Canada where he escaped from the train taking him to a camp and reached USA. Although not detained in the USA he was not helped much but eventually returned to Germany. He published a book cheekily titled Mein Flucht aus England. Seven months after reaching Germany he disappeared over the North Sea. His body was never found

photos of my Airfix 1/48th Hurricane. Not one of my best, not helped by the kit, I wanted to build wir#th the canopy open but the moulding is far too thick. I have got the camo colours wrong, then opened the Tamiya Spitfire and found what the colours should be. Wrecked the main fuselage decals so had to change the aircraft modelled. this one is from 85(F) squadron in France April/May 1940.

Sigh. Here we are, two weeks to go, I've made several posts but no actual progress. And this is one of my favorite historical events!! In an attempt to keep it simple but still hopefully get something done, my latest and hopefully last attempt is (are):
A Spitfire Mk.I and Hurricane Mk.I, the twist being that both were flown by Robert Stanford Tuck, the Spit from 92 Sqn in May/June and the Hurri from 257 Sqn in mid-Sept.
The fuelages of both are together. Here's a shot of the cockpits and semi-finished fus. halves before buttoning up (and yes, I did add the small bits to the fuselage interiors before I glued them together):
The only after-market bits are the Eduard seat-belts and decals for the pilot, Victory Prod. for the Spit and AeroMaster for the Hurri. By the way, I'm using the Trop. kit for the Hurricane because it has the proper DH prop./spinner as well as the correct intake for the non-tropical version in the box.
We'll see...

Well, much to my own surprise, progress is being made! I got the top camo colors on both the Hurri and the Spit, and the Sky on the bottom of the Hurri. I've been a little hung up on how I wanted to paint the bottom of the Spitfire but am settling on black/white wings and alum. center section. That's going to take some re painting but I'm getting there!

Holy moley, I'm really doing it!
Here are my 1/48 Hase. Hurri and Tamiya Spit (RST's aircraft), glossed and ready for decals as soon as they cure:
Nice toes, eh?
I know they should be hard(er) line camo, but I'm running short on time so I went for freehand.
I might actually get away with this!

Well, for good or ill (and I think more the latter), I'm calling them done. NOT, I'm sorry to say, my greatest work, but they're good airplane models in that they're FINISHED airplane models, and on time too!
Herewith, Robert Stanford Tuck's Spitfire (1/48 Tamiya) from May, 1940 and his Hurricane (1/48 Hasegawa) from September, 1940:
(I'm really bummed about the way the Victory decals silvered!)
Thanks for the opportunity everyone, and great work to you all!!

Well done all, standard is excellent, much better than my Hurricane, so much so that I cracked on and built a Spitfire, Tamiya Mk1a. Nothing but praise for a superb kit.
610 Sqn during the Battle of Britain I don't know the fate of this aircraft ser. no. L1043.
Need to tidy up those gun patches and fit the aerials
2 photos lifted from 610 sqn' s website (worth a look)
I think DW-O is the leading aircraft in the vic
May not be DW-O but I liked the photo
While I am on; I visited the Richard Hillary memorial in Northumberland today
I know this has not be a good campaign, and for that I apologise but the efforts put into the builds and the results are stunning, well done everybody. Perhaps fittingly our numbers are few but the results are excellent.
