Don't forget "lawn dart"!
True, true, but I don't think it was applied with the same level of 'love' that viper was.....
Waaayyyy back in the mid '90s an official USAF memo came out from some general which forbade the F-16 community from referring to the aircraft as 'lawn darts'. No kidding. Apparently it didn't sit right with the pilots. I wish I had kept a copy of it. Does it ring a bell with any other Falcon Fixers out there?

Here is some Ideas I had for ribbons..Would love some input from others as well.I also think they should make the size of the ribbons a little bigger.

I like both ribbon concepts. If I had to pick one I would pick the ribbon with the Falcon profile image.
I shy away from the red, white & blue ribbon because, although the F-16 is an american design, its success comes from the multiple international customers who have purchased them. So, I don't know that a 'red, white & blue' background is a solid concept.
Still thinking it through though. I'm exceptionally patriotic so I'm struggling with my criticism of the 'red, white & blue' ribbon.

This one is great, but it is not the proper size for a ribbon i think.... otherwise i'd vote for this one.

I'm in, hey what's another campaign amongst all the others I have enlisted in! It is actually working at the moment and keeping me motivated in my builds to stick to a deadline (sorta).
I will be picking up a Tamiya 1/48 Block 25/32 today with Aires cockpit and wheel bay so my finding of this thread was perfect.
Now just gotta get another 5 or 6 builds done before this one kicks off.

Well, since I asked about the F-2, I'd better officially throw my hat in the ring with one. Got several in the stash, just need to choose which one...

Ok Justin, you might have got me "stepping into the twilight zone" and building a modern jet for the first time !
I have put in a request for the 48-067 "Beware the Thunderbolt" Afterburner set from litespeed, and if they are still available and mine I will need to track down a kit.
From the browsing I have done so far it looks like the Tamiya F-16C Block 25 is the right kit for me, but since I am a total newbie at this, does anybody have any further advice for me ??
Cheers, D

D, I don't dabble much in 1/48, can't be a lot of help there. In 1/72 I'd say avoid the Kitech with a passion!

It's a real piss poor copy, sprue for sprue, of the Hasegawa F-16A/B.

I knew I would get you D.yes sir the tamiya kits are fairly accurate right out of the box.if you care about that.I've built the hasegawa kit it's cheaper and good enough for me.

D, you can't go wrong with the Tamiya, but Hasegawa F-16's have a bit more detail. I have a pile of both in the stash.
Justin, I'm torn right now between my Tamiya USAF Thunderbirds kit I got for Christmas last year or a Hasegawa A version with the Israeli 3 tone blue, brown, grey camo version.....

this is my projected build for the fighting falcon campaign Justin [same as the Afterburner campaign]. Using Afterburner decals, but I have to acquire a 1/48 F-16C block 25 probably the Tamiya one. Hope it turns up under the Christmas tree
All the best.
