The unique German printed polygon fabric - camouflage for 1917-1918 was what we term today as "Lozenge" because of a British report on the first captured Fok. D.VII example in 1918. The fabrics actually were in use earlier in 1917. Here the efforts of Doug Baumann became the boon to all WWI German subject 1:32 builders.

Very nice shame I have no 1:32 subjects to use it on although there is one WNW German that keeps calling, a certain Hansa-Brandenburg W.29

Any ways I thought I miight share this picture with you, I took it at Flixton's Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum its understandably in a glass case.

Thank You Stephen for bringing us this review – I feel Doug's work really deserves the attention over at this forum as well!

It will be very interesting to see the comparison with this product, and Pheon & WNWs Lozenge.

Thanks for the review on Doug's decals Stephen . He put alot of time into them and was also a joy to watch them develop . The price is also right which won't break the bank .

Great Review and very informative. Looking forward to the comparison with the other two suppliers. So much good product to choose from. I've got the WNW sets on the way and hope they measure up as I tend to get a little "A-wordish" about such things; usually resulting in much hand wringing and less action. To borrow a theme, "Must/should build one OOB"to get the perspective back!

Good Review Stephen: One caveat if I may, and I will, Doug stresses the use of a clear cote on the decals. I took a small portion of it without clear cote and the ink just melted away. I covered them with Micro Sol Decal Cote, as he recommends.

As I haven't built anything with "Lozenge" I haven't tried Doug's yet, but I think my next project will feature his decals.

Thanks, Stephen. I was a little confused by parts of the review which were in Doug's voice ("my PayPal account"). Also, it was not clear to me if the texture sheets come separate and are applied over the decals, in which case what would prevent them from damaging the lozenge decals underneath?

It would be helpful if Doug had a site where things were spelled-out and a step-by-step tutorial was provided.

The next question is: how do these compare to the WNW lozenge decals? Should one get them instead?

Hi Bill,
I'll check and make sure the quote marks are put in place. Actually the texture I spoke of is whatever the modeler applies in these cases. It can be paint or even Microsculpt's texture sheets. You have to seal Doug's decals after their dry then add texture was my point. Sorry I wasn't more clear.

So far he is just a one man show and can't afford a website. Hence the steps 1-11 discussing application.

Since I don't have the WnW lozenge yet, (They just sent them yesterday.) We will just have to wait and see. I will review them as well when in hand.

Stephen, it looks to me as though the Microsculpt texture should be used on any fabric-covered surface, no?

What would you estimate the number of 8 x 10 sheets required per build?
