A rules question: Would a KA-6 be acceptable? They're not mentioned in the movie, but there are several important tanker scenes in the book...

Thats a great looking build there Camogirl!
Got started into mine awhile back back but it has been slow going as I have a few other kits on the bench at once. Here are some progress pics to get going. It's Italeri's 1/72 A-6E.
Nick.

Sweet another one comes into the ring good work so far
Posted: Friday, September 09, 2011 - 10:19 AM UTC
While unpacking from the move earlier in the year I came across this
inside was a 1/72 project that I started a long while ago but never finished...
2x F-14A, SH-3H, EA-6B, A-6E, KA-6D, S-3A, E-2C, A-7E, A-4E/F and and E-2A to convert to a C-2 Greyhound
Carpena Decals did some decals of all the aircraft on the USS Forrestal (except the C-2). I had done one of the 3 Tomcats but that as far as it ever got. As there are 3 different variants of Intruder for this project (A-6E, KA-6D and EA-6) I'm going to do the A-6E for this campaign. (at the same time i'm going to do the A-7 Corsair for that Campaign as they're the same colour
The kit is the Italeri kit and will be built straight out of the box.
Work has started on by priming all the parts and building the cockpit. more to follow this weekend.

Finally got some work done and here are the results.
Cockpit is done and I found some Verlinden seats that I bought for another Intruder that ended in the bin so I'll use them on this instead.
and I've started to button up the fuselage
Hopefully more will continue of the next week.

No worries Justin, family should always come first. I hope everything go OK for your wife and she recovers soon.
As for the Intruder it has stalled, been busy with more decorating of the house and DIY etc,The intruder is waiting for me to catch up with the work on my Corsair II so they can both be painted at the same time (as they're the same colour)

Didn't think I would have time for this campaign but will try something different from others and will build a A-1J Skyraider.

I hope so as the Campaign page says "The film features U.S. Air Force A-1 Skyraiders" and I distinctly remember a Sandy bombing the enemy when the Intruder crashes near the end of the movie.Quoted TextIm sorry sir but it has to be a plane used in the movie.sorry

To be honest there was enough interest when the idea was born and I remember having at least 24 people signed up for it at one point (although that has dwindled). I don't think it's not peaking peoples interest but rather the campaign fell at the wrong time of the year (when people seem to do less modelling) and the fact that there are too many great campaigns all running at the same time and people are over subscribing themselves. Hopefully with Sam and I deciding campaign start dates and length we wont have too many campaigns running at the same time next year this campaign didn't get the attention I thought it would but I'm learning what peeks peoples interest most.

And yes Tom I see your point I my self will only be signing and running campaigns I know I can realistically finish to the standard of modeling I like to see.I don't like to rush things and waste money I like to take my time and get as much detail pumped into a model that I can

On with the build
I've painted the cockpit parts and added the Eduard PE.
A light oil wash and now ready to close up the fuselage .
