It is amazing how much Bleriot was ahead of his time.Monoplane, pilot behind the engine etc....Looks modern even today.

Richard Plante started this project at home after building a 1/10th scale model like the one I am building now.
My good bud Patrick Campbell is now in charge of this project. He is almost 90 years old.
Godfrey Passmore runs the show at the museum and he is about 85,What will we do when they are gone?

This thread is the only one that I am running on the web.If you want to save any of these pics you better do it now. They are no longer available on my photobucket.page and never will be again.

This is probably the last aircraft that I will ever build and it will end up in the museum too! my personal goals have already been achieved, this build is just for fun. JohnReid (Aviation Artist)

John,
Given the ages of the team members involved in the project I believe your "math" is a little pessimistic. I hope you'll be doing many more builds for fun; you are indeed a youngster compared to them and look at what they are accomplishing! As Stephen says, "Please model on!!"

Cheers and Merry Christmas from another old enthusiast,
Lance

I have decided to build this one out of the box with only a few modifications.
Why ?
I have already scratch built a similar aircraft 'The Backyard Flyer" and with this one I just want to relax and have fun.

If I decide in the future to scratch build the same thing in 1/16th and use it in a more conventional type diorama,I have all the plans and templates to work with.I already have all the research material available to me and will have this model to look at while building the next.

The piece is meant to be stylized, a very detailed airplane and a stylized bird would just not go together.

In the case or at a normal viewing distance, none of the small detail would be seen anyway.

Anyway that is my story and I am sticking to it.
