I lacquered the edges of the rudder and added the internal structure as per the instructions .Because of my allergy to super glue I will be using only carpenters glue throughout.Because it all will be painted glue residue marks will not be a concern.

I painted the rudder using burnt umber gesso.Gesso is like an underpaint that
sticks to anything and anything sticks to it,If I decide on a different color I can paint right over the burnt umber.

Before painting the rudder be sure to shape it as per the instructions.
Normally I would take this opportunity to begin the internal rigging while I have easy access to it but I have promised myself to do this one out of the box.

Thank you Stephen.I hope that it works out the way I see it now in my head.I have loads of reference materials and pics.
The hardest part will be to get the relationship between the bird and the aeroplane correct .This will be the heart of the storyline.I am going to need the help of the museum to build the brass ring for the base but that is still a little way down the road.Merry Christmas ! Cheers John.
