Ah yes time rolls on! We will start with the Sopwith Comic conversion set from Freightdog/Blue Max. As has been mentioned before he is working on providing a LeRhône engine with the set. It looks like it was designed for the Eduard kit. I have one in hand so I'll do a review later.

Hi Stephen

according to Colin it is designed for the Eduard kit and the LeRhone will not be added. You'll have to source it from another kit (Colin mentioned the Eduard Ni17 has two types included) or aftermarket. All included marking optios require it.

BTW AZ will issue a Gotha G.V soon ,,, I bet it is the Hippo kit

happy new year and

all the best

Steffen

Hello from Freightdog,

We are please to announce the new Blue Max 1/48th Sopwith Camel Night Fighter conversion is now available to order, priced at £18.00 plus £4.00 worldwide postage.

The Comic Camel was a field conversion for Home Defence use in the night fighter role. The conversion consisted of moving the Camel's cockpit back, while also relocating the machine guns from in front of the pilot to above the wing (to avoid the pilot being temporarily blinded by the muzzle flash). The Comic proved to be successful in the role of intercepting German Bombers on route to London during 1918, one of the decal options being B2402 of 44 (Home Defence) Squadron, "B" Flight, Hainault Farm, Essex, 1918, credited with destroying a Gotha G.V attempting to raid London on 25th January 1918 while flown by Captain George Henry Hackwill. For his actions he was awarded the Military Cross.

Designed for use with the Eduard Sopwith F.1 Camel base kit (not included). This set features a complete new fuselage and seperate top decking, navigation lights, Holt flare brackets, Lewis guns and Foster rails are all included in resin. Please note the set does not include the Le Rhone engine that was used in most Comic conversions. This must be sourced seperately.

Blue Max is a brand of Freightdog Models, this item will only be available direct from the Freightdog website.

Images can also be found at http://www.freightdogmodels.co.uk

Best regards Colin - Freightdog Models

From our Man Jean-Luc at the 2012 Toy Fair!

Quoted Text

Hi all,

Piotr Mrozowski from Mirage Hobby has sent me some pictures of their new WWI kit to be announced at the Nürnberg Toy Fair, a 1:48 scale Halberstadt CL.IV (Rol) - long fuselage. He has allowed us to speak about it when the Toy Fair starts. This means today so anybody wanting to do a news items about this can do it. The model below has been assembled from the first test shots.

Quoted Text

I will see many manufacturers in Nürnberg once again. I will be there from Saturday 12.00 until Monday 12:00 so if you want me to ask specific questions about forthcoming releases, please post them in this thread. I will see:
- Eduard
- Zoukei-Mura
- Italeri
- Adalbertus
- ICM
- Squadron
- Airfix
- MPM
- Heller
- Mirage Hobby
- M. Nicholls (Tamiya Mag Int.)
- M. Michaux (Tamiya Mag Fra.)
- M. Hatcher (Sam Publications)
and probably others I forgot. Though I will also visit the Tamiya, Dragon, Hasegawa, trumpeter and Hobby Boss people, I don't have real close contact to them so getting insider informations there will be more difficult. But I'm working on the case...

All the best,

Jean-Luc

In the recent months we have had the release of Mirage's 1:48, 5 colour lozenge decal sheets for their Halberstadt CL.II ( and now maybe their CL.IV) kits.

These 5 colour lozenge decals just arrived today. Upper & lower colours with lozenge rib tapes. Review to follow.

Also nice to see the tapes in the format ( no having to cut your own )

More from HGW arrived today! It is decal sets in 1:48 of faded / transparent type of 4(set #548023)& 5(set #548022) colour lozenge . Great for interior use or for giving your bird a well worn or "over" varnished look it would seem.

WARNING! You must clear coat these to use. You can damage these with more than casual handling. Make sure your thumbnail edges never run across the un coated decal surface.

Wood grain Decal (light wood) - Tester

The wood grain decal is called a tester but should be considered a teaser to get you interested in purchasing the separate full sheets. (I did a review on the 1:48 wood grain sheets here at Aeroscale).

Look at the WNW wesbite. Under the decals and accessories title it appears there are going to be 4 new products available soon. Catalouge numbers are 9996-9999, and prices are from $10-$20. As their decal sheets are $19 I wonder what they will be? Scroll to the bottom.

It seem like Eduard has started a trend with extra sprues. If the Mercedes is WNW $10 offering I wonder what the others will be?

Dear Stephen
I think the others prices are for the diggerent spue's size (small, medium, large).
WNW charge an extra $10 price for postage.
