Hi Jessica,
Might this include my in-progress Hannover CL.IIIa?

I hadn't thought of in-progress builds. How far along is it, and would the campaign give you an excuse to finish it?

I was going to build the 1/48 stuka though I think it was made in 79. If this does not qualify the 1/32 Bf 109. Let me know on either thanks.

I didn't know that Airfix did 1/32 kits. Are you sure you're not thinking of the
Matchbox? Or are you perhaps thinking of the
1/24 kit?
Kits from
this list,
this list, and anything on
this list dated before 1976 are acceptable.

Many of the kits in the last list are a bit modern Jessie...

I'll agree that some are, but most were released in 1976 or earlier. Here are the ones I can see that were released later:
1979 Supermarine Spitfire I 1.72
1979 Hawker Hurricane I 1.72
1977 Messerschmitt Me109E 1.72
1977 Britten-Norman Defender 1.72
1977 Sepecat Jaguar GR.1/GR.3 1.72
1979 N.A. P-51B Mustang 1.72
1979 Focke Wulf Fw 190 D-9 1.72
1978 Westland Whirlwind HAS.22 1.72
1979 Bengal Lancer 1.12
1979 MBB Bo 105C 1.72
1978 Golden Hind 1.72
1977 MG K3 Magnette 1.32
1978 Focke Wulf Fw 190A-8/F-8 1.72
1978 Dornier Do 217E/J 1.72
1977 Modern British Infantry 1.32
1977 Multipose German Inantry 1.32
1978 Space Shuttle 1.144
That's only 17 out of 80 kits released that decade that are outside the imits of this campaign.

That would cut off a whole lot of classic kits that were released before 1959. I really don't want to limit things that much.

I have to do this, I've spouted far too many times how it might be good for everyone to build an old Airfix kit (not knocking Airfix at all) to make them appreciate just how well catered for they are these days and stop griping about innaccuracies and scale details on some of the finest kits available.
Yes I still remember my skyblue spit with decals on bare plastic its melted spinner where the tube cement had softened it to extremes and the cloudy cockpit. Dogfight doubles... sighs.. happy days indeed.
We shouldnt forget when Airfix released that 1:24th Spitfire it was jaw dropping at the time.
I'M IN!

I seem to recall building a few of these long before 1976 though Airfix may have retooled some.
Maybe they were UK only releases then?

I have a feeling that these were retooled versions of older kits. I'm going by the Airfix Tribute Forum's research. If anyone finds proof that a kit was released earlier then it becomes elligible for the build

You don't know how long things take me. I haven't even found the box with the victims, ah er candidates in it yet. Then I have to pull a few out, check against the list (not easy with my eyes) and then grock the plastic for a while while I decide which one it will be. That could take me til June or July. Then I gotta find some paint, a bit of filler and figure out if the decals will blow up or not. Yea, there's enough time if I get started this weekend...

I'm in.
I have lots and lots and lots and lots. And lots!
Sitting on my workbench atm, in the final stages of painting, are the Matador AEC and 5.5" gun, and the Morris Quad + 25 pdr, and the Arfika Corps Recon Set.
The Airfix catalogue and box art in the seventies was so seductive that I've been unable to resist buying most of the stuff that I could never afford as a brat...
Could do a B26 Marauder, or a B25 Mitchell or a Flying Fortress, or a Superfortress or the old Me109G or maybe even the 1/24 Mustang or Me109? Or a Puma or a Me109E or Spit IX or P38 Lightning or Kittyhawk or or or or...
What about the RAF Emergency set or the RAF Refuelling set? Aircrafty-associated enough?

We've thrown the campaign open to the whole of kitmaker since Airfix made so many interesting things, so those are already allowed. Enjoy the anticipation

Should I be depressed? A comparison of the kit inventory and the Airfix site, shows that I've got at least 30 kits that qualify as Airfix. There are still 4 Heller kits I haven't tracked down. Only one is disqualified for this build, the F-105G (actually tooled by CPC (General Mills)) in 1980. Another one is questionable, the MPC tooled F2P-2 (1972). Five more are in work or finished, so I've still got 23 to choose from. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions....

Well that was easier than I thought it was going to be... Wading thru the shelves of shame, I found the Airfix Craftmaster boxing of the TBM-3 (1966-69). Among the parts is a real live no fooling stand. How could an Airfix group build be complete without a kit on a stand. Now I just gotta figure out how to get decent decals. Looks like the originals are in the box, thick, blurry and yellow.
