I'm definitely in on this one!
I am actually a member of the airfix tribute forum as well as aeroscale and I have a lot of old school airfix stuff in my stash.
tentatively though,as my build, I have a heinkel He 177 with a box date of 1975 although I'm sure off the top of my head this kit is earlier than that.

Hi All
Here are my three models i will build.
I first build these with my brother and dad back in the mid 60's,one base as you can see has a mold date of 1959!
We made most of the other figures.
The figures were sold seperatly.

Hi Jessie

I like the title "Ancient Airfix Assemblers". One question - Does "Ancient" refer to " Airfix" or the "Assemblers"?

I was thinking so myself. So I checked my feet and there wasn't an Airfix logo or copyright date there, so I guess I'm just an Ancient Assembler. Tho FWIW, I think most of the Airfix kits I've tackled lately are younger than me. Possibly except for the A4D-1

I just joined (shhh, don't tell my friends at ARMORAMA) and I am looking at some carded kits on eBay that are dated around 1973.

I have just been lured back into aircraft, especially vintage kits and it's my way of stretching out a bit.

It won't be a jaw dropper but I have always liked WWI aircraft and here most recently, helicopters too but will always be an armor guy with many 1/16th RC & static kits still to be built.

Looks to be fun!

Welcome to the campaign
If you want to do a target^Wtank, don't worry; this is a Kitmaker-wide campaign and tanks are welcome
(As are ships, cars, figures and anything else Airfix ever produced.)

Thanks for the welcome!

I did understand on the ruling, but I'd rather do up a winged thing anyways. I do have an AIRFIX LCM & SHERMAN Tank kit that I have had for well over 6 or 7 years that qualifies, but that scale in the aircraft for me is the challenge and the brand. I have collected a few AURORA 1/48 aircraft kits that I intend to build all because the fun I'm having right now with a helicopter.

Nostalgia is alive and I like it.

Well, your secret is safe with us.

What I've been amazed with on tackling kits like these is how easily they go together. Now there may be gaps and steps in the joints, but they do go together well. I guess that the trick was to get us kids to build them quickly and then buy more. Not working so well as I get older (I refuse to grow up).

An HO scale Camel? That's great! I haven't heard of that one. Can you post a picture? It might be rare and better collected rather than built.

It was only $13.00 so I doubt it's worth much.

I just want to build it all because the scale.

Oh, that's the 1/72 Sopwith Pup. If it was sold to you as HO, it was misrepresented. But that's okay, because it's one of the nicest Airfix biplanes ever. You'll have a blast with it.

Look what a real master can do with it.

Oh, thanks for the link and for the info! I'm sure it will help very much. I really went after it all because of the 'size' of the scale (if that makes sense) and the packaging which was a bit before me or wasn't what I was exposed to when first shopping for kits.

I like the subject (but I mainly build in 1/48 for aircraft) so it will be a learning experience for sure because like I said earlier, I am mostly an armor kit builder with my main interest in 1/16th RC.

Looks to be a good Campaign with lots to learn! Thanks again!

Just received my "kit" the other day and you were so right, it's 1/72 and not HO, but that's okay as I knew it would be very small. The wing span is about 4 3/8", so it's going to be a supreme challenge for me and the link you provided will only increase the pressure to do it right!

But, that's what it's like to learn as I will do my best AND have fun all at the same time.

I am deffinately in on this one, airfix was what I started on as a boy; like so many others!
I have just purchased the new boxing of the De havilland-Canada Chipmunk T.10 circa 1969.
I will be building it OOB as I like the black and white scheme that is used by the BBMF with this trainer.

I like the look of the Pup, I don't remember that as a kid, I was always disappointed that the Camel was a 2F1 Naval Camel, it didn't even have a hump
So many nice subjects. I looked in the stash again and I must have about a dozen eligible kits, most re-boxings and most with memories, I could build this campaign several times over. So far I'll stick with the Biff and possibly a Hanover CL111 as a Dogfight Double(another Airfix concept).

Hi All

This is the kit i am doing for "The Great War 11-11-11" campaign over on ArmOrama.
Note mold date 1957!
Airfix must have got their money out of this one!

That thing is as old as my mum. I tried one a few years back but it was a total disaster.
Good luck with it!

Pegasus make a really nice Brisfit but you have to make up the struts from plastic strip provided in the kit. Bit lazy of them I think. When I've mastered biplanes I'll pluck up the courage to build it.

And those pilots with no legs, or as I call them Baders
Its a 'Challenge'. About all I have left of it is the Lewis gun and the decals.
They really should've put this kit out of its misery decades ago.
