So it has begun. . .I'll be building the "Late" version. I've spent the majority of the day getting the interior parts off of the sprue and ready for painting. . .

I'll have some more interesting pictures soon.

Thanks
Mark

Mark check the fit of the dash panel to floor before you paint, mine was a bit overtight and needed a little help

Mark,

Some nicely arranged painting "trees"... Will be watching closely for the build. It seems that the folks on EA forum particularly like the WNW I really like your choice!

All the best,

Mark,
You can add me to the list of folks that like your method of dealing with all the parts, bits, and little pieces that are such a big part of a build. In running down the "home stretch" of my KoTS II SE5a Build I have really slowed down progress prepping each piece in turn as they were required; too much changing of colours, cleaning in between etc. Just when I'd realised that a more organised system was required along came your photos, and I'm definitely using your system next build. Thanks for the idea, and I'll be following your progress as well.

Cheers,
Lance

Thanks for the posts everyone! Glad you like my paint method, it really cuts down on the amount of airbrush cleaning. I also carve the part numbers into the mandrel holding the part with a knife.....just in case. I have the interior finished (there are a lot of small pieces and decals that really add to the detail) and will be prepping the fuselage and wings tonight for painting.

Hi Mark:

Very nice. Your work is always so clean and tidy. Your wood grain, the attention to the small details really stand out. Outstanding work Mark.

Mark,
Your work redefines the term "clean finish". I'm with Entoni, simply spectacular and an inspiration to me to try to emulate your results!

Thanks for the kind comments everyone, I should be able to finish by my deadline (Saturday/Sunday)

The kit is so well engineered that everything falls together very nicely but watch out for the bottom of the upper wing, the connector piece needs some filling and sanding to get rid of the "step", be careful or you will sand the rib tape detail away.

everything ready for paining..................

I taped the cowling together and taped them to the masking paper right above where they will located so that the paint from the fuselage to cowling will line up as good as possible.

thanks,

Mark

Hi Stephen,

I used the folowing colors:

---MisterKit GC-04 Albatros Pale Green

---MisterKit GC-02 Albatros Mauve

---Panzer Aces 328 Japanese Tankcrew Green - (I didn't have GC-06 Albatros Dark green on hand and the Tamiya XF61 Dark Green is way too dark, by the way, XF71 for the Pale Green is way too dark also

---MisterKit GC-03 Albatros Pale Blue (for the undersides)

Everything sprayed on nicely, I'm in the process of decaling the fuselage now and will post shade the wings....so... it looks like I'll be into the middle of next week before it's done. Still a very quick build for me.

Nice cammo spray Mark - I like the ay you masked the engine and set the cowlings on the side to spray at he same time. Your build modes are giving me lots of great tips for "eficient" modeling! Did you mask the cammo or spray freehand? If you masked, whats your tec for the soft edges? I have one, that i'm not compleatly happy with...

Best regards

Thanks Mikael, I did the camo freehand, no masks, although in the past, I've used simple paper masks held about a quarter inch away from the surface while painting.

Hi Mark:

Looking real good. As always a nice clean tidy and well executed build. Writing of MrKit paints: I have tried repeatedly to contact Mike and have gotten nothing. Anyone know what's up with him? Is he still in business? Has something happened?

Love the paint work Mark.
