How about a campaign showcasing those unsung heroes of Maritime Patrol? Long boring hours spent looking at the wavetops, yanking and banking at 0 feet chasing the elusive steel shark, endless frustration and the satisfaction at finally nailing the target. Hunting smugglers, druggies and terrorists is merely the latest addition to the tasks associated with sweeping the bad guys out of the sea.
The possibilities range from the Felixstowe of the early days, The RAF's 'tween wars flying boats, Fw 200, Wimpy, Whitley, Liberator, Fortess, Sunderland in the Second World War, Lancaster, Neptune, Shackleton, Argus, Orion, Tracker, Viking, Nimrod, IL 38, Bear F and many more from the Cold War and beyond.

Hmmm, PB4Y-1, PB4Y-2, PBY-2, PBY-5A, P2V-7, AF-2S, AF-2W, S2F, S-3A, PV-1. I certainly have enough candidates. I just need to figure out which ones will fit in my limited display space (probability decreases with number of engines) and figure out how to actually finish something....

There's got to be at least 4 more people interested in doing salt-stained bird strainers.

Maritime patrol, does that mean just patrol and no physical engagement? I am in a quandary, that could include Bf 109, 110, Ju 87,88,188,290 Fw 190,200 He 111,112, and others. So it you could clarify what exactly is the flight parameters. I am joining just need as little assistance.

Assuming I get enough time at the bench I could be in with the 1/72 Airfix Nimrod MR2

The FW 200 would be a very appealing subject.
as for timing, personally, I'm booked through the end of the summer, so if this is goes forward, I'd like to request a start date late autumn at earliest.

What I had in mind are airplanes that spend their lives looking for the bad guys on or under the water; generally large, multi-engined and spending hours droning around and then attacking when the opportunity arises. Out of your list the Ju 290 and Fw 200 best fit. The BV 222 would also be a candidate if you have room for one.
Maritime attack aircraft like Beaufighters and Ju 88s are another story which is outside the scope of my idea here.

We'll leave the question of timng up to the campaign admins. Given what's running right now and what's coming up I'd suspect it'll be an autumn or winter campaign anyway.
We have our 10 victims^Wvolunteers, so I'm off to propose this campaign officially.

Thanks for the clarification. I was thinking of doing a plane from 5 KG 40. I already have built the B&V 222 collecting dust. If my selection is some what limited I will haul out the Ju 290. I do have the parts laying around to build the 390 but that is way too huge. The Fw 200 is destined for a different project.

I hauled out the Ju 290 and noticed that they have the wrong paint call outs for a FAG.r should be RLM 72,72,65.The call out they list are for transport units.

That's not surprising given that the use of the -290 in anything other than the transport role is not very well known. It's going to be interesting watching this one take shape
