In opening the Ju 290 box and inspecting the kit I noticed that the port dorsal wing has an arc in it. Any suggestions in how I can flatten out the wing? It is close to the wing root trailing edge. Any suggestions would be helpful. I might have to create a spar for the wings not too sure. Darn big it is.

Find a big flat board, clamp the wing to it and pour on boiling water, then let it cool. It's also possible that gluing it to the lower half will force the bend out. A spar may be useful in such a long-winged beast.

Hi all this sounds like great fun count me in!!!!
I have had my eye on a Privateer and a Shackleton for some time now and I have already done a Catalina but would be happy to build another if I had the chance
Also my gran did the weather forecasts for the Sunderlands so that sounds like a good excuse to get a Sunderland for my stash and this campaign would be the perfect excuse to build it!!!

Here is the problem I have to deal with. A nice arc in the bottom section of the top port wing. Any suggestions in how to remove it? STH70068

Try the boiling water trick first. If that doesn't work, how about making a spar and epoxying it in place while you have heavy weights sitting on top to flatten it out while the epoxy cures?

I need to remove myself from this g/b. I have just been accepted into school and the size of the completed Ju 290 does not allow it to be displayed within this household at this present time. After the eventual move quite possibly it will see the light of day. Good theme just unlucky for it's timing for me.

Jessie,
Really looking forward to this build, the MPA birds are normally overlooked by most. One big question though - Are we going to get a banner for our build ? If I had the talent, I'd volunteer, but unfortunately I'm not even close.
But a banner is also a Great way to get more PR out for our build. Perhaps "King Neptune" rising up ? Could be interesting......any ideas ?

I'd probably go with something similar to the ribbon I put together. A trident and the VP International crest is very traditional, no? Or we can always borrow 407 Squadron's winged trident.

Jessie,
Sounds Great to me. Even just an expanded ribbon banner would be fine. Just something to get some PR going ! Just my opinion, though. Thanks..............

Thank-you for the kind reply. I do have my nose in a few other builds at the present moment. Will not leave this hobby just because of school. Getting my class 1.

Change of plan, a friend has just donated a Matchbox HP Halifax GRII Series 1a Maritime Reconnaissance version with Merlin engines, BP mid upper turret and H2S radar. Did the Revell boxing of this kit a year or two ago and enjoyed it so looking forward to this

This is it Welcome!
I think I'm the one who's confused. I thought that your question was about a Maritime Patrol model. Now that I read it again I can see that it's about a night fighter.

Oops, blonde moment.

I've been looking in my fathers model stash, and have gotten permission to select whatever I wish. So I did select a Hasagawa 1/72 Tracker. Hoping that my choice is OK for the campaign.

That's perfectly okay
You might want to go look at CanMilAir Decals. They have decals for several different Canadian colour schemes for the Tracker.

just had another thought for an entry, would a torpedo bomber varient of the Bristol Beaufighter be allowed as an entry? I was thinking of either that or a Fairy Gannet as possibilities for an entry.

Beaufighters were attack aircraft rather than patrol. The Gannet qualifies.

Hi All

This is what I will be building

I may try and source some RAAF decals for it.

Cheers
