OK, here's my first take on the actual rules:

1. Entry must be based on the idea of two related aircraft, at least 20 years apart as modeled.

2. Any scale, any airforce(s)/airline(s), civil or military.

3. Each entry must have at least two models (stand-alone or in a diorama OK).

4. Models can be of two or more aircraft from the same unit at least 20 years apart as modeled. The same unit means a squadron, group (or equivalent unit), or airline that share a common heritage, for instance each have the same number designation (e.g. RFC 56 Sqn. in WWI and RAF 56 Sqn. WWII or later) or same badge/name (e.g. U.S.N. squadrons VF-17 in WWII and VFA-103 today, both the Jolly Rogers with the skull and crossbones unit marking).

5. Alternatively models can be two or more of the same or similar type of aircraft from the same or successor manufacturer at least 20 years apart. Examples include Sopwith Camel, Hawker Hurricane, Hawker Harrier; or MiG-3 and MiG-21 or Mig 29; or Douglas SBD Dauntless and McDonnell-Douglas A-4; or Boeing 247 and 747.

6. Alternatively models can be two or more aircraft with the same name at least 20 years apart. Examples such as P-38 Lightning and Israeli F-16C Barak (Lightning in Hebrew); Hawker Typhoon and Eurofighter Typhoon.

7. Two modelers can team up to build one entry, in which case both models should be new builds. In this case, modelers are encouraged to use the campaign thread to find a partner but it’s up to the modeler to do so (the campaign leader isn't going to team people up). If you're doing it this way, be sure to indicate who you’re teaming with each time you post a picture (so I don't get too confused!)

8. Alternatively, one modeler can do both models in an entry. To make this campaign fun and doable for those interested, it’s OK if one of the models is already completed and the modeler just makes the companion model to go with it. If one person does both models, they should be the same scale so they can be shown together.

9. Either method used in rules 7 or 8 will count as one entry and each modeler involved will get a ribbon (yes, you’ll get a ribbon if you finish even if your “buddy” doesn’t).

10. Enter as many as you like and you can use different entry methods but each modeler will only get one ribbon and each model can only be part of one entry.

11. At least one in progress shot of each model should be posted in the campaign thread and at least one finished shot in the campaign gallery (if you’re teaming up, be sure to indicate in the campaign gallery which models go together.)

12. The idea here is to show off how aviation has changed over the years and have fun!

I tried to make them inclusive and understandable and included examples in each alternative. I'm not sure if the examples don't make things MORE confusing and cluttered, but that's why I'm asking you all!

Look 'em over, let me know if they make sense and cover what we've been talking about. I'm not afraid to take criticism, but might defend my choices!

That looks pretty straightforward as things go for such a complicated campaign idea. Lots of flexibility built in, and room for entertaining negotiations over what's allowable

Hey, new possibility:

7. Another possibility would be two aircraft at least 20 years apart with the same pilot. Examples would be Keith Park’s Bristol Fighter in WWI and one of his Hurricanes from WWII or Robin Olds’ WWII P-51 and his Vietnam War F-4.

Also, a first crack at a ribbon:

Not much, but it kind of conveys what I'm looking for. Suggestions/ideas welcome!

How about a nice sepia tone Sopwith Camel contrasted with a full colour Eurofighter?

Now you're thinking my way Jessie! They flew the Harrier as well.

I have submitted the campaign proposal to the AeroScale Campaign Gods. Let us pray that we might find approval in their sight.

I'm certainly in for this, not sure what I'll come up with but I've definitely got something in the stash.

This is what I'm thinking of if we get approved and if I can actually maintain interest in one theme long enough:

I've had the Buffalo in the stash for a long time so the box has suffered, but the plastic is fine:

We'll see...

IS this what you're considering Jess or are you merely musing?Well there's no doubt those two will certainly keep you occupied Jess as well as providing an opportunity to test either your decaling skills or your masking skills. What scale were you considering Jess?

The Griffon is 1/72. I have Starfighters in 1/48 and 1/72. I'm trying to decide whether I'll be consistent with the scale or whether I'll be impressive since I intend to do that kit in 1/48 anyway.

Hi Jessica
The RCAF Starfighter in Tiger meet markings is on my wish list.
Decals from CanMilair, not sure what make(any recommendations?) or scale of kit.

The old Monogram 1/48 kit is pretty good for a pretty decent price (especially if you find it at a swap meet). The new Hasegawa kit is simply fantastic, even right out of the box. In 1/72 the kit to get is the Hasegawa release from the '90s, followed by the Revell Germany kit. If you do 1/32, your choice is Hasegawa; the old Revell kit is fairly crude in comparison. Then there's the 21st Century Toys 1/18 kit which can be painted up into a really impressive model if you have the room for it.

I have just placed an order for the 1:72 Hasegwa CF104 from JHL.
