As a bump and to highlight my flighty nature, I present my first change of mind. I told you I can't stick to a plan!

Rather than the F2A and MiG-21, now I'm thinking of doing either:

or:

I put in the decals because sharp eyes will note that the Kfir kit doesn't come with markings from a squadron that was around in 1948. But the 101 Squadron flew the Avia, Spitfire and Kfir, so I'm covered with aftermarket decals.

The Spitfire and Kfir could be fun because I could do one of the first two Israeli Spitfires that they built from RAF and EAF wrecks. The beginning of the Israeli aircraft industry and its culmination! I've got time to decide...

Michael,

I would love to see the S199 personally, just because I don't think I've ever seen that Academy kit builtup and there are always enough Spitfires to go around... but that's just me, they're your models.

That's OK Van, I wouldn't have asked if I didn't want opinions! I have the Aires cockpit set for the 199 too, so it could be interesting...

Anyone else? Just trying to keep interest alive.

I've noticed a lull here and with only 13 enlistees, we're looking a bit anemic. I'm thinking about adding a category:

Waive the 20 year apart rule if the two aircraft (still from the same unit, manufacturer, pilot, or with the same name) are major/revolutionary changes in configuration eg: multi-plane to monoplane (thinking here of the big change just prior to WWII) or piston engine to jet engine (the big change at the end and just after WWII).

This continues the overall theme of evolution of flight. What do you all think? Would it add more flexibility and interest to the campaign, or is it too complicated already. Opinions encouraged and welcomed!

I have room for another campaign this Spring, and I've been watching this one-- good idea.
I have a T-45 that didn't make it into the earlier BAe campaign. I would pair that with an old T-6 Texan kit, also in my stash. I have to find or piece together unit markings that match, but I'm happy to enlist. Always a good crowd here.
Consider me sold!

How about a slight variation on the interpretation? We could combine a Harvard and a Harvard or a Thunderbolt with a Thunderbolt, unit markings not necessarily to be exactly the same.

Jessi,

I think that's already covered by rule 6:

6) Alternatively models can be two or more aircraft with the same name at least 20 years apart. Examples such as P-38 Lightning and Israeli F-16C Barak (Lightning in Hebrew); Hawker Typhoon and Eurofighter Typhoon.

I'm thinking about adding the opportunity to do two aircraft not twenty years apart but with major technology leaps between them.

Oh. I took it as read that the unit markings had to be the same which narrows down the pool of available candidates considerably.

Warren, Technically, I suppose you can. But that wouldn't be any fun, now would it?

Only a couple of weeks to go before we kick this one off and I've revised my plans for my builds (as I'm actually about finished with my Kfir for a different build). My top three contenders are:

F4F Wildcat (either Tamiya or Hobby Boss) and F-4B Phantom II (Academy) both from the Red Rippers VF-41/11

MiG-3 (ICM) and MiG-29 (GWH)

Sopwith Triplane or Snipe (WNW) and Hawker Hurricane (PCM)

Of course, the Tamiya F4U-1 and Trumpeter A-7E aren't out of the question.

Any preferences?

I'd be up for it. Are there decals for VF-11 F6F's as I could do a VF-11 F6f. and then a VF-111 F-8, F-4 or F-14

Wouldn't one of them have to look much dirtier and more used?

I'm sure the Aussies keep them immaculately clean!

The more I think about it, the more I'm drawn to:

or

I do love me them Hurricanes! Even though I can NOT get a picture of the box without a bunch of glare.

Hi,

as i was over since a lot of time, i discover this campaign proposal today, shame on me.

I planed, even before to see this thread, to build the older and younger planes of the acrobatic french patrol:
the 1953' F-84G (officially first year of the french patrol) and the Alpha jet (which is the french patrol plane since 80's).

Is it okay whit that, althougt the acrobatic fench patrol is not literally a squadron ?

I did not noticed the date lines, is there any ?

cheers

Nico,

No shame involved sir! Certainly I believe a national aerobatic team qualifies and it sounds like a cool combination. The dates are November 1, 2013 - April 30, 2014 and the signup is here. Welcome aboard!

Great,

thanks for your fast answer.

I don't have pics of the kits (I did not bought them yet) but the F-84G will be the Heller' one and the Alpha Jet will be the Revell'.

And know i'm going straight to the enlisted office !

Cheers
