Hello,

I have enlisted for this campaign. I normally build WWII aircraft, but for this one i want to do something different.
So if anyone can recommend me a good quarter scale kit of either the F-4 F-14 F-15 F-16 or F-18 that would be great.

Tony

Well, the F-14, F-16 and F-18 are all ineligable as they are not used by Japan (apart from the F-2 which is an enlarged F-16 unique to Japan).

For the F-4EJ Hasegawa is your best bet, the new Academy kit isn't available as an "E" model yet. For the F-15J, again Hasegawa is your best bet, although there are other inferior kits available from the likes of Academy and Tamiya.

Sounds great to me. Just starting a Hasegawa 1/48th KI 43I Oscar. Definate lack of Jap subjects on the forums.

Nito, your box cover is upside-down. See how the George's are both inverted in this action pose?
Also, note that the artist drew the smoking Corsair with the far wing bent correctly, but the near wing bent upside-down.
Nice find though. This should be a cool campaign.

I noticed Sean, I wanted to show the aircraft and upside down wouldn't be easy..
I didn't noticed the Corsair wings

It was a nice find and a good price at the LHS, there was a 1:72 Zero that was more than twice.. I got this one for 10€ and the Zero was 24 €...
That's about 13USD for the "George" and Zero had a price tag of 31.9 USD...

Anyway I'm hoping to have some fun !!!

Welcome aboard guys!

I've got to admit, speaking as a JASDF nut, I'm really surprised by how much everyone enlisting is leaning towards WW2 subjects. Seems like 80/20 in their favour.

Me too! I'm going to do a 1/48 scale mid-wing version of this aircraft -my favorite Japanese fighter from WWII.

I just signed in, March suits me well. My decision goes to a Ki-46 "Dinah" as a day interceptor with a 37 mm cannon as "Schräge Musik" and maybe a Ki-45 "Nick", both in quarterscale.

Probably in on this one too. Not sure, just got a Mitsubishi A6M2, might build that. I also have a nice Tamiya "George" which is needing a build. Russell

just found a reason to sign up for this.

Always had a thing for the YS-11.
Japan MSDF Neptunes and Orions frquently visited Kwajalein. I have no photographic evidence of YS-11s ever being there, so there is a what if element to this build.

That's a very nice kit, except for a fit problem getting the engine nacelles into the wings without gaps. Luckily, this is why the modelling gods invented sheet plastic to be used as shims

I look forward to it. after a half dozen Welsh kits ( and more on the way, I hear, just today itself), that sounds like a fun challenge!

Afraid not Paul, campaign is for aircraft in Japanese service only.

Jonathon, welcome. Nice to have another JSDF subject

OK, I'm back after a years enforced absence (marital split!). Have now got a temporary work area set up, and need to try to rediscover some of the skills I was just starting to build up.
I have a pair of Tamiya 1/48 Ki-84 Hayate "Frank" and a 1/72 Tamiya Aichi Seiran in the stash. I think I'll tackle one of the Franks if that's ok.
