1:32 SCALE B-17 FLYING FORTRESS FROM HK MODELS
8)
From what I've seen of the test shots for this, it's huge, huge, and even more huge, and will be quite the kit to assemble. However, as with any of the latest crops of models from the Far East, they ain't cheap. The website I saw it on didn't list a price, so you might want to check it out yourself!

There are a couple of builds and much discussion of this kit going on at the Large Scale Planes forum for those interested in such matters.

Hi James
Dave Shick sent me this teaser ahead of the review he's working on:
The beer isn't included - it's an optional extra - but probably very necessary when you see the size of the beast!
And, yes - that's a metre rule!
All the best

Pacific Coast Models are selling it for a cool $278,95 so if you have some spare change...

I'd say one would need something stronger than beer to tackle this beast!

God's teeth you couldn't be said to enjoy miniatures if you bought one of those.

What gives me pause for thought is the bottle gives me a better sense of scale than the metre rule...

I don't even have display room for 1/48 scale bombers. Where would one realistically display a model of that size? My man cave/model room/computer room is only 10x10. BTW, how does one paint a model that big? I guess the local custom body shop sounds about right.

Nahhh.... not the body shop. Contact Boeing (Seattle) and see if they'd let you do it on the line! LOL

Really some things are beyond the pale in 3/8 scale I think. Don't get me wrong more power to whomever tackles something like this.
But me... Maybe on a dare.

I want one....Which means I'll have to get the Tamiya P-51D in 1/32 as well (for escort duties of course)....I would proudly hang this thing from the ceiling with ripped apart cotton balls painted a black/grey to simulate flak burts....

On eBay, they've already got built version going for over $1200.00. Man, I'm in the wrong business...

Sounds about right, back in the good ol` days before i changed jobs and had time to go to the local model club,i was told the going rate for comission builds was three and half times the cost of the kit !.
By the way this beastie comes with a unique way of displaying it - a mount that screws into the wall so you can hang it like a clock !!.

Well bruce its going to be in couple months I have to finish my Mitchell first. Also waiting for some pe to come out in sept. from eduard. I'll try to post some pics of my work on Mitchell but never posted pics on this site so give some time. Been working on inner fuselage of Mitchell and ran out of paint.

Posting pics is pretty easy. Here are a couple tutorials on how to do it.

Never much cared for the ceiling hanging route. Impossible to see the top side of the aircraft(s), and every fiber of dust will find it's way to them as their final resting place.

It's one thing to try to sell them @ $1,200 each, but quiet another to actually find someone willing to spend that much money. Would be really interested in knowing if any actually are sold via the ebay route.
As for displaying it screwed to the wall, at least you would see the top side, but still a dust collector. A proper shelving, or cabinet with the model enclosed in a custom display case, seems like the appropriate way to go.

The only scary part is that we all know we want one, some of us wont admit it and half of us are holding out until it doesnt seem as ridiculous. Flying Fortress chicken - and we're all going to lose.
