Given the date this year I am thinking of building 2 aircraft a year for the next 4 years, each pair to be in service during the centenary year. I shall probably build as many nations as I can and I am thinking of 1/48 scale. I'll blog each pair as I go. 1914 is probably going to be the hardest year to find subjects maybe an Avro 504? and a Rumpler Taube if I can find the kits. 1915 gets easier as I have a Nieuport 11 and there are Eindeckers available. After that it gets easy.

1914 is proving difficult to find kits for, 1915 is possible but not much choice, favourite for 1914 is a Bleriot, scratch built if I can find some decent drawings, more research needed on the Central Powers side.

At the moment I can't see a genuine 1/48 1914 kit, Rodens BE.2c is 1915 possibly 1916, the Bleriot I built previously is pre-war (Anzani engine). I used to build wood flying models from scratch years ago, the only bit that looks really difficult ofn the Bleriot is the Mono engine. I like the idea of a Farman Shorthorn but it would have more struts and wires than I want to contemplate!
