Lee: Nice Tonka buddy looks cool in those colours, weathering looks spot on to me.
Richard: Nice red arrows there mate, saw them recently superb show.
And finally John: Buddy what happened? Could you not manufacture the part, I know it is a weird shape, but maybe something from the spares box? The jet pipes on mine I sprayed with Tamiya Gun metal X10 and dry brushed them 1st with tamiya grey metalic X56 and lastly very lightly with chrome X11. I then sprayed in the middle of the panels with clear blue.

Well my wife went to wedding this past weekend and that gave me enough time to finish things up.
So here is the finished product of my Black Eagles Dragonfly..
The final image is of it with 2 others I had done previously. I have many more AC used for Aerobatic teams that I plan to do in the future as well....

That's a great looking Dragonfly! Painted or decals? I finally made some progress on my Blue Angels Hornet. I masked the canopy with parafilm, and although the glue looks smeared and messy, it dried clear and it's really only where the paint will cover it all up anyway.

The seams to the control surfaces were filled in and all the puttied spots were touched up and minimized.

I hope this tail angle is good enough. The pieces fit very loosely, so it took a lot of fidgeting to stabilize them at that angle.

Wheel wells were painted white and covered with masking tape. It did a much better job than I was anticipating...very minimal corrections afterwards.

Now it's looking more like a show piece instead of a fighter! I'm too tired to work on clearing the canopy, so this is all I've got for now.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but although not a participant I have been following this campaign and thought I'd offer some inspiration as y'all head into the home stretch!

These were taken at the Hill AFB (Ogden ALC), Utah Open House this summer:

Some great work being done in this campaign!
Build on guys!

Thanks Keith!
I really love going to Hill AFB.
I have a daughter down in SLC and once or twice a year try to stop off there just for the fun of it.
I have also been to the Airshow there multiple times, But this year we have Gunfighter Skies back at Mountain Home AFB!! Yeah !!!!!!!!!
I still have all my Thunderbirds to build....Maybe next campaign.

@Jeff-D,
Wow, we have a few things in common:
Your daughter lives down here, mine was born in Idaho. Mt. Home was my first duty station. Back when I worked hydraulics on EF & F-111s and UH-1Ns.

You make it down to SLC in occasion, the local IPMS chapter is having their contest and show in a few weeks. http://www.ipmsslc.org/contest/ You should plan a visit around the 27th and bring a few models to enter!

My completed Sabre Golden Hawks:

I should have sealed the paint with a gloss before I put the decals on as I had issues with water stains.

Superb job there Pricklehead!

I have a couple of pics to share with you all, from Shoreham Air Show, last weekend. All the usual suspects were there (apart from the Canadian Lanc - had an engine failure ), but this one is by far my favourite at the moment:

Cheers Everybody!

Hey Keith,

I actually am planning on coming down to the show.
My daughter will get back from Italy that weekend and we will come to see her, which means I get to go to show...
Usually a couple of guys from IPMS Boise go down as well so maybe we will have a good Idaho showing.....

Gonzalo, nice to see another Blue Angel build going on! The Blue Angels came to the Cleveland Air Show last week...what a great performance! Gave me the inspiration to get my kit finished already. I touched up the blue, added white to the wheel wells and engine intakes, and added on the landing gear. It's a real proud-parent moment when a plane will stand on its own wheels.

I painted the yellow tips and accents because my decal sheet (Jasmine Models) didn't give instructions on where to place which decals. I'll use its word decals but the smaller accents I can do myself.

The lines were painted and straightened all by hand and without a mask or an airbrush. Anyone who knows me knows that airbrushes and I don't get along...I like the look of hand-brushing in pictures, but in person it's too textured. I think I got everything pretty straight though!

Love the colour in these builds, Jeff-D your Dragonfly is something special. I just finished one up for the Trouble in South East Asia campaign, looking somewhat duller though.

Done! The decals were rather large and unwieldy, so I ended up painting some of the stripes.

This model represents the #3 plane from the 2002 season (the same year that the USNA football team scored a series-record 58 points and began its ongoing 12-year whooping of USMA!! ) piloted by LT Jerry Deren. The decal sheet included Deren's name, but as LCDR (which he attained in 2003). So I cut the "L" from "Lcdr" and a "t" from "Barrett" to display the desired rank.

Many of the decals aren't so crisp, but I wasn't aware of a better option and these really do work okay for my purposes.

I made a display stand out of a simple gray flexible foam sheet and a picture frame. I scored the foam, bent it back and ran a black permanent marker in the grooves. I didn't do too much with it, but it's impressive enough.

I am just finishing up my build adding the last little bits and ran into a frustrating problem I thought I had put enough clear on the decals but maybe not the masking tape you see in the first photo took off some of the decals on the wings and while masking for the anti glare a piece of the decal came off the side this one I trimmed the tape to the edge of the decal and with CA glued the decal back on. I now have to clean up the area re clear it and try the masking again.

Cheers Rob.

Gonzalo,
I was actually quite surprised that I managed to glue it back on so easily it did help that the tape was Tamyia tape as it was somewhat translucent the excess glue I scrapped off with a Exacto knife.

Here it is finished, I am not sure if I will touch up the small ares that are still missing pieces of decal, will have to mix up matching paint but I may do that.

It's been a Great campaign with a lot of quality builds!

Cheers Rob.
