Good evening,
Thanks Gremlin56
Progress but few pictures.
After bonding the two halves of body, the bead is removed with a blade.
A very rapid transition from abrasive in places enough to guarantee a good surface finish, no filler.
A slight darker line at the junction area is sometimes perceptible, but it is that the weld of melted plastic.
Exhausts were drilled, refined and covered with a thin layer of "cockpit black":
Very thin layer of Alclad Black Primer in anticipation of the "Airframe alu" underlayer :
The inside of the glass parts are partially weathered:
These tasks have been an opportunity to try one of the last painting tools:
I start to stock up in anticipation of the next ... Corsair
More soon.
Pascal

Pascal,
The completed fuselage and inner wing assemblies really look quite good. You're making excellent progress. The canopy inside frame weathering is something I'm not use to seeing, but it does look rather convincing.
Your new air brush is yet another top of the line gun. Now you have three. May I ask what you will use all three for?
Very nice AM decals both for the -1 and -1A. Rumor has it that Tamiya just might vary from their usual practice of just two variants from one set of molds, to 3 in the Corsair case, since the -1D is so similar to the -1A. Does make a lot of sense for both the modeler and Tamiya's bottom line.

Hi Joel,
Thank you!
Talking about airbrushes, I'm a bad , bad... very bad boy.
I love that tool and the Neo is the Thirteenth of the familly of ten.
I sold and gave 3 of them.
I love painting and I also build Race cars kits and militaria.
Good thing that Tamiya will realese the "A" and the "D" at the same time as a box option.
No big difference as you said.
Can't wait to receive mine!
Pascal

Pascal,
So you build race cars too. I've had a passion for them since my racing days back in the 60's. The only race car model I still have in a display case is Tamiya's 1/20 scale McLaren MP4/4 F1 car. Ebbro has released a series of 1/20 F1 cars from the era I'm most interested in, especially the Lotuses.

I love race cars from the 50's to ... Now!
I have the 1/20 Tamiya F1 series too, but I build for few years now kits from MFH.
I don't know if it's possible to post race cars topics on Kitmaker.
What about a Ferrari 500 F2, 312P, 312 F1 '69?...

Pascal,
KitMaker Network has a small Auto Modeler site that you can find by clicking the Browse site button on the top taskbar.
I see you love Ferrari's, especially endurance and sprint prototypes. The 512 P was a rare favorite of mine. Back in the days I was a true Ford man, so Mk11',s Mk1V's, and GT40s were my favorites, especially in Gulf Welyer markings.
I really don't have the skills to do a multi media MFH kit, but I'm sure that you do.
Think as a yearly change of pace I'll go back to doing one race car per year from my favorite eras. For needed tire and cigarette sponsor decals, I know that Indycals has them all. No more chasing them halfway around the world.

Good evening,
Small update.
A very thin veil of Light Gray went on aluminum rims.
Maskol protects tires.
The Maskol is removed and black is quickly sprayed to do a touch up on the tire and slightly darken the flanks
The first weathering step:
It was also time to take care of the wings.
One word about the build quality: Perfect!
Wing tips are separate parts ...
Deadly accuracy of the assembly!!
Care should be taken not to forget to pierce the upper surface for the passage of small circular lights mounted from inside.
The propeller received his second thin coat of Alclad Black
Then ... 2 light coats of Airframe Aluminum
The blades are then taken up with a little more pressure and less paint to keep the tone, thickening the layer to make it more solid and less shiny
Time for the Black (Semi Gloss Black from Model Master Acrylic)
The layers are very thin while emphasizing the central, and the trailing edge of the blades.
Lighter on the leading and the rear end face of the blades.
The yellow should be passed quickly on the blades tips.
That's it.

Hi,
Time for Yellow!
Masking tape and a bit of Maskol on the tip leading edge:
Yellow Zinc Chromate as primer:
Insigna Yellow:
A mist of yellow is srayed on the back side:
Discreet, but that's the purpose!
Part of the hub is painted Mat Alu and the tip Airframe Alu.
First "wash":
With Hamilton Logos and instructions:
Wings done:
Test fit... Terrific!!
More soon

Pascal,
The windshield framing came out fantastic with some paint and weathering to finish it off.
I've copied your procedure for props even though it's more work, the end results are more then worth it. The hub assembly is just about always done as dull aluminum. Your two tone variation really makes it stand out. When I do the prop tips, I just use Tamiya Gray primer, then the Marker Yellow. Works for me. But why only a light coating the back of the tips?
The fit of the wings is amazing. Now why can't Tamiya get their 1/48 Corsairs to have that same excellent fit?

Pascal,
The exhaust headers really look quite realistic with the dry brushing of the chalk to simulate the discoloration caused by the heat of the exhaust gases.
The Wheel and Tire is really coming to life with the addition of those enamel washes.

Hi,
Micro progress
But it was a very busy day:
- Sport early this morning (Japan GP practice),
- small flight just after the morning sport to enjoy this sunny day,
- housework (garden ...), but some connection with aviation!
Pics:
Test fitting after some corrections
Need holes! Brassin parts don't have!!

Pascal,
The inside of the canopy looks outstanding. Just not so sure that much of it will be seen on the finished model. As far as the differences in color, one is just Zinc Chromate and the other has it's Dark interior Green coat. Is that what you're referring too?

Hi,
Bad day, sad day.
Japan GP. FORZA Jules.
Thanks Mates.
I wasn't satisfy with the grey color.
Parts masked waiting for the new color.
Paint "research".
Aeromaster Blue Gray for the upper surface:
I love that paint!
Same part after post shading of Blue Grey from Gunze on the rivets + light coat of Klir + oils ( W&N Raw Umber for details, Titanium White for effects) + Micro Flat
This one after post shading of Blue Grey from Gunze on the rivets + light coat of Klir + oils ( W&N Raw Umber for details, Titanium White and Olive Green for effects) + Micro Flat
Here, just Gunze Blue Grey with a light coat of Micro Flat
Same thing for the lower surface color.
Comparison between Aeromaster and Gunze.
Heavy black pre-shade...
Gunze on LH, Aeromaster RH:
Gunze Light Gull Grey + Raw Umber + Micro Flat
Aeromaster + Klir + RU + Micro Flat
Gunze H-51

Pascal,
Interesting comparison of paints, followed by your custom mixes to achieve the exact color and post shading you're looking for. Unfortunately, pictures only can show us so much. I'm sure that up close and in person, those parts look even better.

Your build is a journey in scratch building that the vast majority of us can never make. Just the skill needed to do what you do is far beyond my limited abilities.

the overall paint in the last picture loooks absolutely perfect as to color. Can't wait to see how the masking of the stars turns out.

Hi,
Thank you very much Joel.
Started to work on the Blue Grey.
First step with lightened Blue sprayed with 0.2 nozzle.
Light color is a mix of Blue Grey and Light Gull Grey from Aeromaster.
Surface is rubbed with a soft cloth for a smooth paint surface and to remove the Maskol
Then oils
Raw Umber W&N on the panel lines.
Then Sépia (Rembrandt), Titanium White, blue... between fuselage frames , worked with lighter fluid.
Same on stars
White tape will soon be put over the gun muzzles
I've also tried to represent the discoloration due to Avgas leaks on the fuselage sides
And few leaks and fluid traces
Paint of the canopy is done
Overviews of the progress
Voilà.
